Without ever seeing a proveably genuine one, I'm convinced that any J8Y- prefix is probably fake unless proven otherwise. This one has the too-rounded stitching at the handle bases and the strange leather zipper pull.

What is a big red flag is that the serial font by itself is EXACTLY the same and the serial has exactly the same details as the two pictures below of an absolutely positively 100 percent FAKE Signature bag with off-center Cs and a 1998 year code - compare the two to the red "Bleecker" - NOT Waverly! Satchel that two.time.bags asked about, shown as picture #3.

ETA - One tiny difference I noticed - the "8" in the probably fake red Bleecker SEEMS to be upside down - which tells me that these fake numbers were all individually hand-set into some kind of base that allowed them to be removed and switched around as needed, unlike the rotating serial number stamp that Coach used up until around 2000. All the digits in the J8Y- photos in my files are lined up and spaced EXACTLY the same which means a rotating stamp was NOT used to stamp them - they're too perfect.

However to me that's really not enough solid evidence for them to be reported unless there are screamingly obvious mistakes in addition to those small ones. That's the kind of fake that would fool 99.999 percent of the sellers on Ebay or anyplace else. I wouldn't report it but I wouldn't buy it either. JMO. (But if anyone knows the seller fairly well they might want to refer her or him to these posts and let them decide for themselves what action to take.)
Thanks Hyacinth. Counterfeiters have made great efforts with this style. As you said it would fool most buyers. Thank goodness for this Forum.

I wanted to reference post #10629 from the closed thread but don't know how....

Isn't there some recourse for sellers to illustrate to the eBay powers that be, that the original listing stated exactly what the buyer is now complaining about so that negative feedback can be removed? We all know that the buyer isn't always right and they need their knuckles rapped every now and then. I mean, short of writing, only buyers with IQ's higher than dull normal should bid, what's a seller to do?""

Regarding the above - I wanted to let everyone know that after speaking to ebay I was able to get the ONE negative removed because my listing was accurate, and the second one will be removed within a few days, waiting to see if the buyer responds to my feedback revision request, if no response ebay will remove it themselves.
I had no idea that they would/could do that, so thanks for letting me know!!
Another SAVE from the wonderful TPFers!!:p

Ebay wants to have its cake and eat it too.

When it comes to control, ebay wants to have a say in how sellers conduct business, whether they have return policies, how much they charge for shipping and handling, etc. Yet when it comes to feedback and feedback removals, ebay pulls the "we're just a venue; buyers express their opinions and feedback is their opinion." So there are only rare instances where they'll remove feedback. And listing accuracy usually isn't one of the reasons why they'll remove it.

If someone promised to remove a neg but hasn't done it yet, I'd take that promise with a grain of salt. I've found that they'll tell you whatever you want to hear as long as it gets you off the phone in the shortest amount of time. If they do remove it, I'll be very surprised. I think they'll say that if the buyer won't revise, then tough sh** for you.

Here's the policy. As you see, there's nothing that says they'll remove for a neg left for an accurate description:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-removal.html

What are the guidelines?

The following types of Feedback may be removed:
Feedback comments containing inappropriate content.
Feedback that is unrelated to a seller's performance.
Feedback left by members who violated certain rules or policies.
A buyer made an error while leaving Feedback or during the transaction.
We determine it's necessary and appropriate to remove Feedback and detailed seller ratings.
Feedback and detailed seller ratings are removed or adjusted through an automated system.
Reporting Feedback that qualifies for removal
You can report Feedback that you think may qualify for removal.

Comment: Is the gap in creed ok?

BeenBurned, I was looking at past sold items from the seller's history (some items are still viewable); as for current items, that was my mistake--what I thought were the same items were actually different styles. I'm still a newbie at this, sorry!

Also, this is the bag I received today, ordered from the same seller:
Item: Mint COACH Vintage Black Leather Court Crossbody Bag,Purse,Tote 9978 $258 USA
Listing number: 161220138635
Seller: coachclassics

Comments: I tried taking some pictures of the creed & serial (posted at the link below), and it was really difficult to get a good clear shot! Maybe that's why the seller has the creed covered in some of her pics? I believe the serial # is as follows: G0C-9870.
