I sent the seller a question asking that yesterday and have not heard back. I've seen more than one seller claim something was Coach or Bonnie Cashin without any proof at all.

I sent him a question on the bag so maybe one of us will hear back. It's a really cute bag but I would need to see something that proves it is really a Coach.

Sellers are throwing Bonnie Cashin all over the place. It's gotten pretty crazy lately. I did email one seller who listed a Gucci as a Coach. She thanked me and changed her description so it was an honest mistake in that instance. Not so sure that is the case with triple kisslock though.

The bag is authentic but a pointed A and YKK zipper have nothing to do with authenticity.
Thank you for the response. I came across this bag on ebay as I was looking for a yellow purse and a blue purse for upcoming occasions and bought them on a whim. Have not received the second bag yet. I know next to nothing about authentic coach bags so this site is nice. Again, thank you.

Please DON'T report it.

We talked about that bag a week or two ago and came to the conclusion that it might be genuine, we just haven't seen it before - which as we keep saying, doesn't mean it's fake.

and a few posts after that.

The other details of the bag look ok. It may have been a pilot bag that saw very limited production BECAUSE it didn't look like people expected a Coach to look. So it's very possible that someone got a very unusual and rare Coach. I hope whoever bought it is a tPF member and posts some pics including a creed photo when she gets it.

ETA - just noticed that the seller added a creed photo after we talked about the bag, and pics showing that the letters actually are cut out. Interesting design, and I'm still not seeing anything that would make me think it's fake.

EDITED AGAIN - Whoops, the other one we talked about was a RED one! (Caffeine deprivation again). So now we seem to have two of them, both with the same details. Chances of them being genuine just went up big time.

BTW, the serial number stamp is absolutely IDENTICAL to genuine 1998 bags from the Italian plant
Crap!! I really liked that red bag but decided not to bid. That cut out design showed up on other purse styles years later so maybe Coach was ahead of the curve.

Hello all. I have been browsing the forums and wanted to post the bag I just got. Any help at authenticating it would be great. I am a total newbie! Thanks!

*The hangtag does have the pointed A, it didn't show up that well in the pic. Also there is the YKK on the zippers.

The style is called a Soho Signature Optic Small Hobo, and as BeenBurned said, it's genuine.

To learn what kind of misinformation posted in dozens of "authenticity guides" should never be believed or depended on (like the "Ykk zipper "rule"), please read at least the Salearea Guide on Authenticity guides and their usually bad information - reading all six would be even better if you buy or are hoping to buy more preowned Coaches:

Thanks Two.time.bags, BeenBurned, and Whateve for your feedback and input.

I, too, asked the seller if it was dyed or painted and was sent this response, "no dye or paint,it's the original color.thanks!" I even bid on it - but my instincts told me to let it go. Now I am very glad I did. I found a better bag (which I can't justify at the moment) that I'll post at Coach bargains. (It's a bargain because it is in beautiful condition.)

Thanks, again, for input and feedback.

Well I got a different response so maybe s/he actually bothered to check after receiving so many queries:
"Yes, the bag was dyed. We were absent in mentioning this in our description, our apologies. The inner pocket on the rear was not dyed and that color is a light brown/sand color. The bag is authentic with a dark navy blue zipper cloth and gold zipper. We hope this is helpful in your bidding process."

That briefcase on etsy looks lovely, though if you're patient you may be able to get a similar one for a lower price. Good luck.

Ok pros. I found a neat little bag today. Nothing adventurous like the yellow (not a) Janice. It appears to be a dinky bag (9375), from the late '80s/early '90s?

As always, thank you for you expertise and time.
This is cute. I'm glad you got your money back for the yellow fake. Good on you for pushing your case. Some people just won't admit they're wrong though even when the evidence is right under their nose.

After much discussion I was able to get a store credit for the yellow Janice. They said it had been researched and stand by their authentication....ykk zipper, serial number. Even after I showed them the forum comments and the catalog picture they still didn't believe me. They said I should've taken it to a coach store and had it authenticated through the database(?) and brought paper work. Yet they not only gave me credit for the bag but an extra $6 for inconvenience.

Next time you're planning on going there, print out the URLs of the Salearea Guides, especially the one on Authenticity Guides and tell them to read them carefully instead of depending on so much bad information..

You're welcome.

I wonder whether a credit card dispute (if that's how you paid) might get you a refund more quickly. Even so, though, that won't put the scammers out of business.

That might be quicker. But then, I would need to return them the item, and they will just sell it to another unsuspecting one. And the cycle goes on.

I'm hoping to get the authority to confiscate the item and/or start a investigation file against them and/or a fine. Then at least, for this case and this particular bag, no other person will experience what I have been through.. :smile1:

There are tons of fake Guccis in the thrift stores with a similar cut-out, so it is something counterfeiters are familiar with. That red bag was pretty, but when you've never seen one before, how can you be sure? Now when the next one shows up, you'll be ready.

It's authentic and the style number is probably correct although they've made other similar styles and MFF items so it's hard to be sure.

Good morning....i wonder if this is a outlet purse, the seller wasnt sure his self, and is the price ok? ty :)

The bag is authentic and is a FP style.

We really can't comment on price or value because items are worth what a willing buyer wants to pay. There are so many variables that can cause selling prices to rise or fall, among them rarity, condition, demand, color, etc.

You'll need to decide for yourself how much it's worth to you.
