Comments:
When I found out that Brandspree was the undisclosed supplier. It was too late for me to cancel the order.

I have a hearing with them at the Consumer Tribunal Court in Malaysia this coming 20th of March.
Although the comments / tips here are not professionally binding in any way.
Nonetheless, with the experience and knowledge of the members here, any tips will surely be very helpful to me.
Thank you so much in advance.
Note: no Coach Creed for this item.

What I get.
- Plastic Wrapping on the "Leather" Handles and Shoulder Strap.
- Longer than Normal Metal Tag with Scratched Marks and Red Stain at the Back

- Fading Coach Imprint, CoacII? New York or Hew York?

- Uneven Stitching Works

- Black Smudge on Zipper

- Unusual Dust Bag (white strings used)

- Unusual Price Tag, Even the Edges of the Care Card, the Colour has Started to Fade. (red)

Sorry, it's a complete and proveable FAKE.

First of all, genuine full-size Coach handbags will ALWAYS have creed stamps and serial numbers. The only styles that might not are small bags like Swingpacks, some Crossbodys, and some listed as Minis. The one you bought would always have a stamped creed patch and serial number if it was a genuine Coach bag.

Second, the clear plastic on the straps or handles - Coach NEVER uses clear or opaque plastic wrap.

Third, the paperwork included with the bag is completely fake and several pieces known to be used ONLY by counterfeiters. It would have helped to see the side of the price tag showing all the names and UPC codes but in this case it's not necessary. And the "Registration Card" included with the bag hasn't been used by Coach since the end of 2006, so why is it in a bag supposedly made almost eight years after those cards were discontinued?

Fourth, the Coach stamp on the front pf the bag is very badly done, the edges are rough and uneven, and it's NOT how Coach stamps their newer bags

I hope Malaysia has very strong laws against selling or distributing counterfeit trademarked merchandise, because the distributors had to know they were NOT selling genuine Coach products. I also urge the authorities to shut down and prosecute anyone else connected with this fraud.
I hope "Consumer Tribunal Court" is as threatening as it sounds and I hope they can put that site out of business.

One correction to what Hyacinth posted is that I don't believe that bag has a creed. It's a smaller satchel and some of them (mini Tanner also) don't have creeds.

In addition to what Hyacinth pointed out, here are a few more differences/problems.

I find side-by-side comps to be very helpful. I borrowed authentic pictures from some ebay listings.

In addition to the imprints, notice the texture of the saffiano leather, the tags have the wrong markings on the outside and the inside (of the fake) as shown on Brandspree's site is blank.

Notice that the tag on Brandspree's bag is blank on the inside:

Please DON'T report it.

We talked about that bag a week or two ago and came to the conclusion that it might be genuine, we just haven't seen it before - which as we keep saying, doesn't mean it's fake.

and a few posts after that.

The other details of the bag look ok. It may have been a pilot bag that saw very limited production BECAUSE it didn't look like people expected a Coach to look. So it's very possible that someone got a very unusual and rare Coach. I hope whoever bought it is a tPF member and posts some pics including a creed photo when she gets it.

ETA - just noticed that the seller added a creed photo after we talked about the bag, and pics showing that the letters actually are cut out. Interesting design, and I'm still not seeing anything that would make me think it's fake.

EDITED AGAIN - Whoops, the other one we talked about was a RED one! (Caffeine deprivation again). So now we seem to have two of them, both with the same details. Chances of them being genuine just went up big time.

BTW, the serial number stamp is absolutely IDENTICAL to genuine 1998 bags from the Italian plant

Thanks, Hyacinth, I was not going to report it unless it was confirmed fake. By the way, how does it work with sold counterfeit purses - does eBay take action against seller if the bag gets reported? How about the buyer - do they contact her/him?

It depends. It used to be that the buyer got a message maybe a week after the removal telling them not to go through with the transaction because of VeRO issues (which a lot of inexperienced buyers didn't have a clue about or that it meant the item was fake) but they never just come out and tell the buyer to contact the seller for a refund. I don't know if that's changed recently, maybe someone else does.

BTW, I just added another paragraph with more information to my previous post.

The message the buyer gets tells them the listing was removed because it violated some rules, but it doesn't tell them that the item is fake. It says that if you have already paid, you don't need to do anything and you should receive your item within 10 days. If you haven't paid, you don't have to. But almost always the buyer will have paid by the time they get the notice. One time I got the notice and the seller didn't even know I had paid. I had to tell her I still wanted it. It makes it pretty difficult to get it authenticated once this happens since the listing is no longer available. But the buyer can still open a SNAD case after she receives it.

Thank you Hyacinth and especially BeenBurned. Taking your time to even do a side-by-side comparisons pictures for a stranger that you have never ever met.

That is amazing, you made my day! I'm feeling blessed and thankful.

I'm hopeful as well for the court case. Will update you all after that.

Thank you again. ^^

So they tell you there was violation but don't say you purchased a fake? Strange policy... so you have to play the guessing game... but my understanding is at least you can ship it back and get compensated for all your expenses? Thank you, Whateve!

This is the message I received from ebay when the item I bought was removed:

Thanks for your interest in this item.

We had to remove this listing, and the item is no longer available. We do our best to make sure listings that may not comply with our policies don't appear on eBay. Because millions of items are listed every day, occasionally a noncompliant item could appear on our site.

The most common reasons we remove listings are:
-- The item isn't allowed on eBay or can only be listed under certain conditions.
-- The listing or item may have violated the intellectual property rights of others.

What to do now:

If you won the item and haven't paid yet:
-- This transaction is now canceled. You don't need to pay for the item.

If you won the item and already paid:
-- Don't worry -- your item should still arrive.
-- If you have any questions about the transaction or delivery, check the shipment tracking if it's available. Contact your seller for more information.
-- If you don't receive the item, or if the item arrives in significantly different condition than it was described, your purchase price plus original shipping may be covered by eBay Buyer Protection:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/resolving-problems.html

We're sorry for the inconvenience. eBay still has lots of other great deals.

ETA: So it looks like they are saying it might be a fake, but if you already paid, it almost seems like they are encouraging you to keep it, rather than trying to stop the seller from shipping it.

AFAIK, Ebay no longer requires the seller to pay for your shipping costs to return the fake to them. Again, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

And of course, Ebay is going to fudge when they say there was a violation but don't say what kind - the fewer fakes being returned for refunds, the more money Ebay gets to keep.

Maybe they're hoping you'll RE-sell it on Ebay and they'll make even more money from the outrageous Ebay and Paypal fees! :graucho:

Good point, Hyacinth! ;-)

The last time Coach used buckles stamped Solid Brass was around 1991-92 for the larger Dakota bags. And genuine Janice's Legacy bags should always have four buckle holes on each end. Below is Coach's 1996 Preview catalog photo.

I'm sorry, but it's not genuine. I hope the store will give you a refund.

After much discussion I was able to get a store credit for the yellow Janice. They said it had been researched and stand by their authentication....ykk zipper, serial number. Even after I showed them the forum comments and the catalog picture they still didn't believe me. They said I should've taken it to a coach store and had it authenticated through the database(?) and brought paper work. Yet they not only gave me credit for the bag but an extra $6 for inconvenience.

Glad it worked this way, Soozlz!
