We were in Florida and I really wanted to go to Joodlz's stores but when we saw how far out of the way it was, it seemed really ridiculous to spend that much on gas vs. what we would have saved on purses! Plus I figured that Joodlz would get to the bargains first and there wouldn't be anything left!

Good point - we'd have to neutralize her somehow. Maybe we could lure her north with a free plane ticket, and then keep her in a locked warehouse there while we head south and go shopping at her GWs. We'll stock the warehouse with plenty of food, water and an assortment of George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Cary Grant movies. And her choice of chocolates, of course. She'll be very happy, and we'll find some great deals on purses. :D

Sounds like a plan! :graucho:

So I think I found a Metropolitan briefcase today, but I'm not used to how the turnlock looks since it's slightly different than on other bags (like the Willis where the prongs stick out just ever so slightly.) So basically that makes me a little nervous, but otherwise it seems like everything on it checks out. The creed reads fine even though it didn't come out very well in the picture (it's another dreary day in MD so the natural light stinks.)

Oh the hovering I had to do to get my hands on this bag....

I found this lovely coach in a thrift store, I didn't see the center seam on the bottom piece but I'm pretty sure it's authentic. Any confirmation?
It has a number printed in the back pocket, which I've also never seen before.

The bag looks authentic. The number inside the pocket is seen sometimes - it is something that was printed on the back of the leather before it was cut. The strap appears shorter than it should be.

I've been purchasing Coach purses and other designers for years and never really had a question about authenticity until today. Ugh.

I was in TJ Maxx and came across a lovely Coach purse in a purple I LOVE! I know that TJM sells real Coach but I think this one is fake. They had this same purse in other colors as well. I didn't stop to question it in the store, but once I got home, my gut started wondering. I paid $179 for it.

My concerns are:
No serial number (OK I JUST FOUND THAT LITTLE SLIP INSIDE THE POCKET. THE # IS NO.F1482F33393)
It has the new logo
Can't really find anything online for it
On the label, where there should be the letter "N" in the sentences, there is a letter "K" instead. Now this could have been the defect if it weren't for the other stuff.

Thoughts?
Thanks!

I don't know what you mean by "On the label, where there should be the letter "N" in the sentences, there is a letter "K" instead." The bag looks fine. This is a new design for Coach factory stores. Yours looks the same as others on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=coach+33393&_sacat=0

On the creed label where it says for instance, "It was haNdcrafted" it says "It was haKdcrafted"

Eh maybe they don't. I think perhaps it's bad imprinting and looks that way now that I look closer. But they all look like a k.

I agree, I'd never seen a strap that short. It looks intentional I think, can't say it looks like it was shortened. Is this an older style?

The 'N' in the word 'HANDCRAFTED' looks like an inverted 'K', but it could just be the depth of the imprint.

Thanks!

Oh I see that now. I think it is just a bad font.

It's a Pocket Purse made in 1998. The style itself is older than that. The strap has definitely been shortened by at least half, the original strap on the 1997-98 version should be 48 inches end to end.

The style is old but yours was made in 1998. The standard strap was 44 inches long, nonadjustable, and it had lobster clips rather than the dogleash clips. The newer versions like yours had an adjustable strap but it was still around the same length.

Hm, I'm going to take a close look at it. It fits rather perfectly on the shoulder at this length, I bet that's why the previous owner had it shortened. :graucho:
