Oh wow, I have fallen in love with this bag! Please authenticate. I think the creed number is 11328. Asked for a better creed photo. Thanks.

Genuine. Some kind of Embossed Hobo, probably, I don't have the name on file. "Hamptons Embossed Signature C Hobo" seems to be the consensus.

DON'T SPEND ANY MORE TIME ON IT.

It wouldn't surprise me if that was the actual strap and leather trim that came with the bag, thoese details are often found on fakes: the leather tabs on the sides where the strap rings attach to are wrong, there should never be a brass "keeper" next to the buckle, they should always be leather on older all-leather bags. Coach bags usually don't come apart at the strap mountings. The turnlock shape is just a tiny bit "off" as well. Nothing I can pin down but when I look at it, it's not quite right.

It's trying to be a Convertible Clutch but the shape of the flap is wrong and so is the strap, it should be detachable.

And I can't emphasize this often enough - read the creed. "Scrtches" is missing the letter "a". Sorry.
Thank you...Hyacinth!! Many months ago I purchased this bag on ebay and when I wrote to the seller about the "repairs" .. the "brass keeper" the buckle that isn't brass and the bad leatherwork repair.. None which was mentioned in the listing ~.she immediately refunded me,and told me to"throw the bag out"..HMMM...
So, that is pretty interesting~It starts to make sense now...Why wouldn't she want it back??The turnlock is weird too,I took it off and noticed that the top has a square indentation, which at first I thought was the coating that needed to be steel wooled off..its not coating..And it doesnt sit right on the bag, its too low!! I don't think there was a serial number either..
I'm sooo glad I checked this bag with you!! Fortunately, I didnt pay anything for it and fortunately I had it authenticated before going further...And I should of used my magnifying lamp to read the creed, my glasses just don't do it anymore!!THANK YOU AGAIN!! Sheri

So I think I found a Metropolitan briefcase today, but I'm not used to how the turnlock looks since it's slightly different than on other bags (like the Willis where the prongs stick out just ever so slightly.) So basically that makes me a little nervous, but otherwise it seems like everything on it checks out. The creed reads fine even though it didn't come out very well in the picture (it's another dreary day in MD so the natural light stinks.)

Oh the hovering I had to do to get my hands on this bag....
Pretty sure this got buried... so *bump*

Dimensions are: 16''x12''x3''

I'm looking for another opinion on this one, either confirmation or comment:

1. Charm colors are correct, not usually seen on fakes.
2. Hangtag missing - it happens
3. Color placement isn't correct as per stock photo of 1744

Comments: Stitching on creed patch looks sloppy and material inside has signature C's. There are a few bids on this bag.
It is an obvious fake. Coach never used that red tag, the signature lining is only seen on fakes, the fabric on the exterior is the wrong texture, the number on the patch doesn't have enough digits and the turnlocks are the wrong shape.

I could have sworn this happened before. I thought there was a catalog photo that showed a different order than the stock photo.

Genuine. BTW, YKK zippers don't prove a thing about authenticity so you don't need to make yourself crazy trying to get pictures of the zipper stamping.

It looks fine to me. Coach changed the turnlock design on briefcases starting in 1996

Fake. The colors may be the right shades, but most of them are too dark, especially the yellow and brown charm. On the purple charm the darker shade looks almost brown. But the biggest problem is the size of the links - NONE of them are the right size, all the main links are too thin, the links attaching the charms to the main chain are too large and the top link of the chain isn't wide enough.

The positions of the blue and green charms seem to have changed between the website photo and the final production version, but ALL the charms on the fake are in the wrong place except for the blue one. Also if you compare the shape and proportions of the front flap and buckle on the pink charm there are very small differences.

Here are pics of the actual #1744 keychain from 2 different sources, there are some slight color differences from the different types of lighting but nothing as drastic as the colors on the fake. (More pics in the next post)
