Hi Hyacinth:

I just searched online trying to find any copley bag cheaper than the one i showed previously and found this one has the same serial number I4E-4414, which means the two bags must be produced from the same company. However the words on the stamps are different, it has "made in Italy" on the bottom separately. Can you help me to check a little bit?
The link is http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-COA...349?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item19ef378fed
It looks like I was unable to download a pic from ebay. There is a pic in the list to show the detail of the stamp.

And the Salearea Coach Guides that I keep urging everyone to read and Bookmark will explain why many 1994 creeds say something different from 1995 or 1996 creeds by the same plant.

I was looking for a patent Sabrina. I don't know if the lining ever came in this color. Something about this looks off to me. Thank you ladies!!

The metal hangtag is DEFINITELY fake, the strap clips don't look right where the swivel part is, the proportions of the creed stamping are wrong with too little space at the top and too much at the bottom, the "F0873-" serial prefix is very common in fake Sabrinas, the creed stitching especially in the corners is wrong, the crinkles in the creed patch are common in fakes, and the creed font is also just a bit too wide compared to the real ones.

In fact the long strap and clips are totally wrong, compare it to this genuine one:
Before opening the link to the listing, I read your comment about wondering whether "the lining ever came in this color." I knew before looking at the listing that the lining was going to be green and the bag would be fake.

Report away!

Hello - was looking at this British Tan Willis and wondering if it is real? The style number and other numbers aren't correct, if fact, seller has a whole blurb about how this is a pre-1994 bag, which is why the style number is different. I know that generally, the older this style of bag, the better the leather - would this then be SUPER DUPER thick leather?

Thank you for looking.

While I'm flattered that the seller quoted the Guide that I wrote for Salearea, I'm not comfortable with one of the details on that bag. The seller is right about pre-1994 creeds not including the serial numbers, BTW - I suggest you readthos eGuides yourself:
http://search.reviews.ebay.com/members/salearea?uqt=g

And the oldest that bag could be is 1993 so no, it's not super-duper thick leather.

The leather part of the turnlock tab assembly isn't right. Not only is the color obviously different, but the part sewn to the front flap should be padded and "pillowed" above the turnlock and it's not. It's possible that piece was replaced but it wasn't replaced by the correct tab so either it was a repair done by someone other than Coach, or it was a sloppy repair job by Coach themselves.

Either way, it may be genuine but it's definitely not in original condition.
I wonder if there's something else going on with that bag.

The bag has already been sold at least 2 times prior to this current listing:

Sold May 15: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-CLASS...674?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2ed1d6b09a

Sold April 21: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-CLASS...905?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2ed10a8011

The seller left feedback for the April 21 winner as "FAST PAY. GOOD BUYER" (on May 12) so I wonder why it was relisted on May 12 and resold on May 15.

And now relisted for the third time.

Hello! I found a black bag while thrifting, but I'm unfamiliar with the style...

Item: Black glove leather bag. I couldn't find much while googling... found one old Etsy listing with a similar style.
Seller: Local GW, $6.99
Comments: The bag is 9" wide at the widest point, 9" tall and about 2.5" deep at the deepest point. Drop length of strap is about 24", non-adjustable. Rather than a turnlock, the closure is magnetic. There is a zippered pocket on the inside, and a pocket on the back. The serial number seems to be pre-1994 style? Gut instinct says it's authentic, but I consider myself a Coach noob still...

Here's the pics:

Let me know if you need more photos...

TIA!! :D

There aren't any other problems that I can see. The problem with the turnlock tab might be a lot more obvious when you actually have the bag in your hands.

Thank you so much! I went through it, it helped a lot! BTW, Hyacinth did you happened to be familiar with vintage baldan bags. I knew it is not proper to post it here. I went through the website and found no thread or any topic related to the brand. If you happened to know something about this brand, could you help me to check one bag? I can send you by personal message since it is not proper to post it here. Thanks!

Hi, all, could someone take a look at this one? The serial number has a whole lot of dashes. TIA

Desc. Authentic Coach Black Leather Messenger
seller: stumptownexchange
item no. 261507398852
Link: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/261507398852

It looks fake to me.

Like you noticed, waaaaay too many dashes - hard to believe that any legit Coach serial stamp would have ever had all those dashes included PLUS the extra spaces on each side of the last dash. There's also seriously damaged leather on the flap that was probably damaged before the bag was made. And there's no evidence that the J plant code was used for any US plant during that time. BUT - just on the slim chance that some nitwit actually set up a stamp like that, I'd ask you NOT to report it.

Even if it's not fake, there's no way I'd recommend buying it with that damaged leather on the flap. There's nothing that can be done to fix that AFAIK.
