Wait while I take a look...

I'd probably want to wait until Whateve can take a look since I think she owns one and I don't. But as long as I don't have any evidence that the plant code was vaild for that time and place, I'll still have to call it questionable.

ETA - I looked through all my creed photos and can't find anything that's even close. The only close one I found that looks like the "No" may match yours, the serial font is similar, and there's even 2 little "bites" taken out of the upper right corner of the border around the creed stamp is this one from a fake Duffle Sac. And everywhere that Y code shows up, it seems we find problems:

OK. Thanks Hyacinth. I'll wait for Whateve, though she hasn't been around much lately.

I'm going to add a bit more information about the seller THIRD listing you questioned from diamondpearl07.

Hyacinth commented that she's not comfortable with the seller's current listing.

My own records show that in April, I reported about 8 of
diamondpearl07's listings as fake.

This is the creed from one of her fakes (since removed):

I wasn't successful in finding other caches, but this is a seller I don't recommend because she definitely mixes authentic and fakes.
Woah, that's terrible! Even I can tell that's fake in at least three ways. She obviously doesn't care what she's selling! Thanks for the update!

It's impossible to actually read but the creed in both pictures looks like it's the same one when I compare word placement, spacing, stitching and the serial number. There's even the same lighter-colored mark halfway up the right edge of the creed. I've enlarged the seller's picture a bit to compare. There aren't any obvious problems but I don't think it's a regular Beekman though.

Maybe if Noshoepolish is around, she may know the name for that style.

What differences are you seeing?

I don't know he name of it. I may have sold one like it way back when I first started. It was rare because of those 2 side pockets. The seller probably got Beekman because if you google, there was one that sold a while ago. Seller called it a combination of Beekman and Organizer Brief.

I apologize for not seeing this earlier. 27 hr OT this week. I don't know if I am coming or going.

NoShoe (may I call you this?)

Thank you for expanding on the background of this bag. It is rare, for I've not seen a bag with the two side bag before. I call it my "cargo pants" Coach briefcase.

Best

I received this bag last week and I am suspicious about the authenticity of this bag.

The Creed on ebay was blurry so I'm attaching it (I hope). The wording is different

Thanks for the info, Shoe! Maybe some day we'll get lucky and someone will have a price tag or receipt with a name on it.

Until then, I suppose "Cargo Pants" will do.

Now try and get some sleep. :smile1:

There's absolutely no way to be sure the first one's real without clear photos of the inside and the creed patch if it has one. If it doesn't we need to at least see large clear photos of the lining and the strap hardware.

The second one is completely genuine. Why do you think it's fake? In fact here's Coach's photo from their website. Just because you haven't seen it before doesn't mean it's fake.

I am just learning about Coach, which ones are real and which ones aren't. I wasn't implying that just because I hadn't seen a specific Coach design that any bag I haven't seen is fake. No need to get snippy about it.

Would you, please, identify and authenticate this item:

My comments: Impulse bidding. Auction ended, I am winner, payment pending authentication.

Thank you, thank you:flowers:

It looks like it might be a Lewiston Bag, style 9931 from around 1992-93, and the color looks like Bottle Green. Here's the Fall '93 catalog pic

Unfortunately, it's impossible to interpret tone and intent in the written word on the internet.

Hyacinth wasn't being snippy but all of us who have been here a while get frustrated when we see a post that implies an authentic item is fake because we've seen those authentic listings get reported and removed.

The problem with a post that's worded as yours was is that there are lurkers who infer that the bag is fake and report it. For a seller to have her authentic listing pulled is painful (emotionally) and also puts a huge ding on the seller's account. And unless the seller has an unbelievable amount of stamina and patience, ebay does its best to wear sellers down when those wronged sellers try to dispute the takedown. In fact, it can cost the seller upwards of $50 to get a professional authentication document to prove to ebay that the item isn't fake.

A little kindness goes a long way. Some of us are new here and just learning. Talking down to someone is unbecoming. I don't take personal offense in situations like this and even though you all get frustrated when you see a post like I made, it is probably mostly from people who are learning and, in my case, someone who cares about people getting duped on eBay.

Isn't it better to ask questions from people more knowledgeable than oneself rather than assume something is not authentic? If I assumed it was fake I wouldn't have even made the post.

Hello once again :)

This bag has been in my closet for a while, but I thought I'd dig it out. I got it sometime last year while thrifting. Is it authentic?

Item: I think it's a Worth Bag, style 4143
Comments: The leather is more lightweight feeling than my other vintage Coaches. It also has a plastic zipper, but from what I've read, Coach made a series of bags that were lighter in construction in the 90s? If I go by the serial number, this bag was made in 1996. There is one thing that I found really weird: I dunked the bag, because it was in pretty rough shape (still is tbh). After the soak, I stuffed the bag with washcloths so that it would maintain the shape. When I removed the towels, I noticed that the creed is more... faded. Almost as if the towels were pressing against the leather pocket while the purse was drying, and the pressure flattened the pocket. Is that possible?

Anyway, on to the pictures:

The front:

And back:

And the inside (sorry for such crap quality on this one!)

Hangtag:

Inside pocket -- note the indentations, they weren't there before the dunking. I think they are indents left by the towels.

The creed and serial number. Before the dunking, it was more legible!

Thanks in advance! :)
