That part's wrong too. That's not one of the brands Coach used (ROMAG or COMAG, divisions of the same company) and the number on the snap should be a valid US Patent number, and it's not even close.
OK. Confirmed my uneasy feeling that this was not genuine. Thank you for your time and effort, please direct me in how to proceed. I am assuming no ill intent on the part of the seller but I would like to report this properly.

I'm hoping BEENBURNED can walk you through the process or post a link where it's explained, since it's been a long time since I've filed a SNAD claim and things have changed since then.

Since you're unhappy with the condition as well as the authenticity problems you may have more than one choice of how to handle it.

The seller has a no-return policy but that means nothing if the bag is SNAD.

Could someone please authenticate this Coach Leatherware bag?
Rescued from GW yesterday.
Approx. 15”w (at top) x 13.5”h x 9”d straps drop 13.5” to buckles.
Maybe a mid-80's-early 90's Helen's Legacy Duffle #9085?
Any and all info is always appreciated...thanks in advance!

It would have to be a 9085 Duffle Sac. The Helen's Legacy wasn't even introduced until Fall of 1994 and would have had the style number in the serial number.

Thank you again. I have initiated a return through eBay stating I believe the bag to be a counterfeit.

I'm having some doubts about a recent purchase. Please authenticate and thank you.

Comments: The leather just doesn't feel right or maybe it's just been neglected.

There's a problem with the serial number that makes me question if it's authentic. The style is a copy of a Soho Greenwich School Bag but all of the genuine creeds in my photo files with production codes from the "E" plant during any month in 1997 were made in Italy, not in the US.

We've usually considered any bag with an E plant code and a Made in the US creed to be questionable at least and probably fake. The examples in my files all have other problems besides just the serial number codes. I'd be curious to see large clear photos taken with the Macro camera setting of both surfaces of the magnetic snap.

The inside pocket on yours looks a bit narrower than the others I've been able to find that seem genuine:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...144?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4ad61ae6c8
and
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Large...349?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item20dcec93e5

The smooth leather panel at the inside bottom of the bag also seems different when compared to the two others. Yours is showing stitching on the inside base that follows or is part of the two lines of stitching on the outside of the base, the other two don't seem to have that stitching. The pocket zipper is pretty wavy compared to the other two examples too.

Thank you very much. What do you suggest I do at this point? So far I messaged the seller and said I wasn't happy with the bag as it was in worse condition than advertised. The purchase is guaranteed through eBay. I did not mention my doubts regarding its authenticity.

Here's Ebay's Money-Back Guarantee

Although you're assuming that the seller didn't purposely list a fake, the fact is that it's a seller's responsibility to know that any item is authentic before listing it. And clearly, having listed and sold a fake, she didn't do her due diligence. (I always recommend that unless a seller is expert in her brand, it's a good idea to verify authenticity of any item which was not personally purchased by that seller from an authorized retailer.)

True the seller, lola362436 doesn't have a return policy but if you open a dispute, her account will have a "defect" (new ebay-speak for a ding) and it can cause restrictions on her ability to sell on ebay. You'll be nearly guaranteed to win the dispute since ebay tends to heavily weigh in favor of buyers but even if you were to lose (unlikely), the seller's account will still be dinged.

So, before opening a dispute, my recommendation would be to refer the seller here and direct her to the posts where her item was discussed.

Hopefully she'll be open to an education and will refund you in full without an argument or dispute. If she's smart, she'll just tell you to dispose of the bag and will refund without wasting anyone's time or money on a return. Since the item can't be relisted or sold anywhere, there'd be little reason for her to want it back.
