Good Monday to Everyone! I was hoping that this was genuine & if so what style of Coach it is. It measures about 10.5" tall x 15" wide x 5" deep with an 11" strap drop. Thanks in advance :)

I understand your frustration. But it's hard to find perfection. Ebay has many flaws...and as a buyer and a seller I can tell you that I find many more flaws on the sellers end. The buyer has a lot of protection, and taking into account the fabulous deals and finds you get on ebay and almost nowhere else, it is not much if you only have to worry about return shipping costs. Besides that, if you do your homework and investigate the item BEFORE you buy it, you have very little chance of actually buying a fake. Buyers should have some responsibility to know their product or trust the TPF to help them with that BEFORE bidding. If you don't want to be bothered with that, then there are so many other sites like Zxxxxx or directly through Coach. Pay full price in the store, wait for sales, etc. Getting a bargains is going to require some time and effort if you want to do it right.

:mad:Now here is another battle in the HOW TO DETECT A FAKE arena!
At the bottom of a page when I purchased a Coach bag on ebay I was directed to this "ebay guide".
http://www.ebay.com/gds/HOW-TO-DETECT-A-REAL-AUTHENTIC-COACH-HANDBAG-/10000000178227488/g.html

WHAT A MESS!! How can we get rid of garbage like this written by complete novice's???
How about everyone goes on and votes HANDS DOWN??
HELP to get rid of this guide before it does more damage.:rtr:
I can't believe the BS in this so-called 'Guide'.

"Some Coach bags are made in China" ; "Many fixtures ....including Coach hardware, should contain the Coach logo"; "The zipper itself is usually branded with the letters YKK"; "Your best bet of getting the real thing is at a Coach retail store" umm this is an EBAY GUIDE!! :pokey:

How do we give it a thumbs down? I can only see a thumbs up. Can it be reported for being inaccurate (understatement)?

There used to be a question "was this guide helpful" and you could vote "no" for inaccurate guides. In its infinite wisdom, ebay removed that ability.

Thanks

It looks good to me but other opinions are welcome. There have been some "good" fakes of that style.

It's authentic.

Name: Ergo Mini Top Zip bag(?)
Purchased at a local thrift store.
Comments: The style number is consistent with other Ergo Mini bags. I just wanted to a second or third opinion about it. Any thoughts of when it was produced?

Thank you!

It's a genuine Ergo Mini Zip.

The Salearea Coach Guides on both Creeds and Serial Numbers will show you how to "translate" Coach serial numbers made in and after 1994:

It's authentic.

I appreciate that BeenBurned! Would you happen to know what style it is? I couldn't find any similar to this with the center zip pocket inside. Thanks again![/QUOTE]

The only place I can find any record is Google, and it's usually called a Soho Pleated Optic Signature Tote. The one in your pictures looks genuine based just on the details, not on any comparison photos. And since it was a Factory Store style you won't find many photos of it.

Thank you for taking the time to find that out for me, Hyacinth... Very much appreciated & it sure sounds very fancy!!! :smile1:

I'm having some doubts about a recent purchase. Please authenticate and thank you.

Comments: The leather just doesn't feel right or maybe it's just been neglected.

There's a problem with the serial number that makes me question if it's authentic. The style is a copy of a Soho Greenwich School Bag but all of the genuine creeds in my photo files with production codes from the "E" plant during any month in 1997 were made in Italy, not in the US.

We've usually considered any bag with an E plant code and a Made in the US creed to be questionable at least and probably fake. The examples in my files all have other problems besides just the serial number codes. I'd be curious to see large clear photos taken with the Macro camera setting of both surfaces of the magnetic snap.

The inside pocket on yours looks a bit narrower than the others I've been able to find that seem genuine:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...144?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4ad61ae6c8
and
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Large...349?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item20dcec93e5

The smooth leather panel at the inside bottom of the bag also seems different when compared to the two others. Yours is showing stitching on the inside base that follows or is part of the two lines of stitching on the outside of the base, the other two don't seem to have that stitching. The pocket zipper is pretty wavy compared to the other two examples too.

Thank you very much. What do you suggest I do at this point? So far I messaged the seller and said I wasn't happy with the bag as it was in worse condition than advertised. The purchase is guaranteed through eBay. I did not mention my doubts regarding its authenticity.

My apologies here are the pictures of the magnet clasp. One side has writing the other does not
