Ok, last one for a while.

Creed: https://dtpmhvbsmffsz.cloudfront.ne...bf8d350e0ecf78/m_53879fbc018efa4f8006e42f.jpg (reads: This is a Coach bag. It was handcrafted in the United States of completely natural glove-tanned cowhide. The variations in the grain are characteristic of natural full-grain leather.)

It looks genuine.

Thank you so much!!! I bought another one from Macy's today to double check against my bag and for personal use. However, the Macy's coach creed is even lighter than the one I have! I can't even make out the letters on the creed. Everything else seems to check out though, the stitching is good and the hardware looks authentic. Can someone help me confirm the authenticity of the this bag based on the creed? Could this be a fake return?

I'm going to say the same thing as our other authenticator. I don't see any problems that would make me think that it's not genuine.

Maybe an early version of a Convertible Clutch, style 9635? It would have to be from before 1976 since Coach's mini catalog with that date already shows it with a wider single strap attached by D-rings at the sides instead of the grommets right through the leather. I don't know if it would have had a different name or number though.

Here's the catalog page for the Convertible Clutch:

Thanks, Hyacinth! Structurally it is similar to a Convertible Clutch, but the flap is lined (2 layers of leather) on this one, not suede on the underside like a CC. Also it doesn't having piping all around like a CC, and of course the strap is like a Basic Bag with dogleash clips that fit through the eyelets. Thanks for the pic, too!

It's genuine.

Thanks for this one too, Hyacinth. I was lucky to find both of these in such fabulous condition...and for $19.99 each!

This is the second one...
Approx. 11”w x 7.5”h x 2”d straps drop 17” to eyelets.
Hangtag chain is faceted and stamped BEAD CHAIN.
I'd love to have any and all info anyone can give me on this one...age, name, style #...anything!
Thanks in advance!

I recently had one like this authenticated by TetonDeb (see below photos) - I was told it was a very early Convertible Clutch from the early 1970s - I would guess that yours has the same identity and manufactured slightly earlier than mine  Hope this helps!!

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. It seems like a lot of very early styles had that kind of strap connection, it's probably safe to date all of them to before 1976.

Please verify/confirm this alleged fake:

Here is a completed listing for what I think may be the real D2J-6068
(Did Coach call this a Demi Twill Tote?)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Hobo-Handbag-Authentic-No-D2J-6068-FREE-SHIPPING-Rare-/261456172056

Thank you.

Did you read the creed in that second bag? It's a Twill Tote with a creed that says it's made of suede.

They're BOTH fake and I don't think there ever even was a style number 6068, at least there's nothing in my files. Right now there are THREE different styles in Completeds listed as 6068 and they're ALL fake. Even the suede one that actually matches the creed description is an obvious fake, just look at the lining and the stitching on the creed:

In fact that number was on an earlier Fakes List posted here in 2010, it seems to have gotten lost somewhere
along the way.

D2J-6068 SHOULD ALWAYS BE CONSIDERED FAKE, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Comment: is this a true blue Coach, mate? (said in Aussie accent)

Wish I could tell you it was Ridgy Didge, mate, but I can't, sorry.

The "No" in front of the serial number is wrong - in D plant bags from the mid-1990s the o should be smaller and the underscore barely bigger than a dot. All the genuine ones from '96 and '97 have exactly the same font, see the pictures below, one from late 1996 and the other from early '97, and a pic of the blue one for comparison

Thank you, Hyacinth.

(:shame: I completely missed the "suede" description on the fake twill creed patch, I need more caffeine or more sleep, or both.:graucho:)

Thanks for posting your pics!

Do you know if the metal tab came before or after the embossed lozenge? I love a good mystery

Edited to add:
I should have looked this up...Quoted from TetonDeb's article "Guide to Vintage Coach Hang-tags and Creeds"

"The little metal tags were used in the 1960's and are also seen on some early 70's bags before the "Creed" stamp."

"This is the first "cartouche" stamp placed in the early bags. It was placed either on an inside pocket, under the flaps on the outside, or on some of the smaller bags, at the bottom seam.

From My Friends at Coach:
The embossed coach stamp is 1970s after the fabric and metal tags and before the story patch. All of those designs with the stamp are very 70s and many released after Bonnie left."

I guess this explains it...thanks everyone

Comments: Seller still maintains his expert told him is real.
Have you referred MYFURRY here?

Refer the seller to this post:

Since the seller is refusing to admit to selling a fake, I recommend you open a dispute and leave appropriate feedback. If the listing is reported and removed, you'll be unable to leave feedback once it's removed.

If you open a dispute, perhaps the seller will learn from the ding on her account that it's a better idea to have her items authenticated BEFORE listing them than to consult with her "expert" after the fact.

BTW, it appears that ebay has changed the policy (finally doing the right thing) and made it so if an item is SNAD, seller pays return shipping. And a counterfeit item such as that sold by MYFURRY is certainly SNAD.

Return shipping charges

Either you or the seller is responsible for return shipping charges, depending on the seller's return policy and the reason for the return. In most cases, sellers require that buyers pay for return shipping, but some sellers offer free return shipping—check the Return policy section of the listing. If you're returning an item because it isn't as described in the listing, the seller is responsible for return shipping charges.
When you're responsible for return shipping charges, we charge your PayPal account if you ship the item using our shipping label. The first time you use eBay hassle-free returns and you're responsible for return shipping charges, we ask you to accept a billing agreement to authorize payment for these kinds of charges.
When you want to return an item using alternative shipping arrangements and the seller is responsible for the return shipping charges, contact the seller to agree on the service and cost before returning the item.
