I have another mystery bag for you guys to authenticate. I picked it up a while ago at a GW.

Item: Leather crossbody. I haven't seen a similar style, which is what makes me suspicious tbh

Comments: When I found it, it was in bad shape. There were visible water stains towards the bottom and the leather was pretty dry. The leather is different from my other bags: it's more like the tan leather that's used for the trim on a couple of my Dooneys. It seems more prone to staining, but after conditioning, it has a nice patina. It also has a rich, leathery smell. There's no hangtag and the only Coach identifying marks are the creed with serial number and a small bullseye stamp.

Here is the front:

And the back:

Inside and bottom:

The creed with serial number. There is also a bullseye stamp to the left of the creed. from what I understand that indicates it was sent to the outlets as either with slight defects or as overstock. But I also understand that the bullseye stamp has been counterfeited before.

Here's some detail of the stitching, which seems rather uniform and straight.

And finally, the zipper and the buckle on the strap:

I just realized that I forgot to measure it. If the measurements will help, I'll post those when I get home! Off the top of my head, it's smaller than my 13" laptop.

Thanks in advance! You guys are awesome :)
There's nothing wrong with it. It's a Brighton Bag, style number 9895 from the very early 1990s. Here's Coach's Holiday 1991 page;

Yay! Thank you! :D

(Another one to post to the Coach rehab thread. I think I have a closeup of one of the water stains from before. I'm going to condition it a little more and post after pics there :))

btw are there scans of old Coach catalogs archived online somewhere or is that from your personal collection? Maybe I should try searching for catalog scans versus single purse styles when I google, hmmm.

The Stewardess is fake. Not only is the strap sewn badly on the edges and has a missing grommet, but the turnlock is wrong and the serial number is fake and has an invalid plant code "R" that wouldn't have been used in a US-made bag in 1999, BADLY overstretched "elephant-skin" leather where the leather has been overprocessed especially on the back of the bag, and the rivet that's normally covered by the strap buckle mounting that's visible in the center picture shows a SILVER-color rivet, not brass. The remaining strap buckle grommets also look silver.

The entire strap looks wrong and I'm getting bad vibes from the stitching all over the bag too. At least one end of the strap seems to have 5 buckle holes when it should only have 4. Compare that bag especially the strap to this genuine one that was recently authenticated:

Hey thanks so much. She apparently was able to get a refund.

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum here but I've been a lurker for quite a while. I have a NWT Coach bag here that seems awfully suspicious. My mom got it from a close friend of hers who supposedly bought it from a real Coach store and even had a gift receipt to prove it. My mom sent me pictures before she bought it and everything seemed ok until I got the bag today. The creed is VERY light and I can barely read it and the "Coach" part of the creed doesn't seem to be imprinted evenly. I've had Coach bags in the past have small blemishes like an extra stitch or an uneven logo but never like this. The leather is also kind of stiff and firm. The zippers on the outside don't have YKK engraved on them but the zippers on the inside do (although I've been told that not all Coach handbags have YKK zippers).

Anyways, I took lots of pictures so hopefully someone can help me authenticate it! This is supposed to be a present for a friend's birthday tomorrow but I'm definitely not going to give it out if it's a fake. Thanks!

Thank you for all your help!
I don''t see any problems with it.

This line made me

Scroll down to the white field where the "Description" page is located.

On the far right you will see:

eBay item number:141301349485

Just copy and paste to your tPF post. Highlight the number and Ctrl + C, to cut, and Ctrl + V, to paste. It seems to be the fastest way to accomplish cut/paste. .........

Coach no longer has a public photo archive. The Internet Archive Wayback Machine will sometimes have archived webpages available but nothing older than 1997.

Thank you so much!!! I bought another one from Macy's today to double check against my bag and for personal use. However, the Macy's coach creed is even lighter than the one I have! I can't even make out the letters on the creed. Everything else seems to check out though, the stitching is good and the hardware looks authentic. Can someone help me confirm the authenticity of the this bag based on the creed? Could this be a fake return?

Maybe an early version of a Convertible Clutch, style 9635? It would have to be from before 1976 since Coach's mini catalog with that date already shows it with a wider single strap attached by D-rings at the sides instead of the grommets right through the leather. I don't know if it would have had a different name or number though.

Here's the catalog page for the Convertible Clutch:
