Hello dear experts, could you tell me if you think this looks good?

Item: COACH 9790 RED LEATHER VINTAGE CITY BAG SHOULDER BAG PURSE + ZIP WRISTLET EUC
Listing number: 221448385755
Seller: bettybshopping
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-9790-...755?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item338f5a34db
Comments: I know it's really nowhere near vintage; another thing is that i thought this bag came with brass hardware, so the nickel surprised me

Thank you! :)

I don't believe there's a Dooney rehab thread although the Coach rehab would probably be just as helpful.

THere doesn't seem to be a lot of activity on the Dooney subforum. A while back, after having trouble getting some fakes removed (after multiple reports), I started a Dooney hall of shame thread and it gets less action than a white crayon.

This line made me

Can you please authenticate this bag?

Thanks in advance

Also: How do I find the item numnber?

Scroll down to the white field where the "Description" page is located.

On the far right you will see:

eBay item number:141301349485

Just copy and paste to your tPF post. Highlight the number and Ctrl + C, to cut, and Ctrl + V, to paste. It seems to be the fastest way to accomplish cut/paste.

To embed links, like some do for the seller's name, click on the seller's name on the listing, ebay will take you to their page. Highlight the name URL, cut/paste, then come back here and click on the link icon above. (The blue/green world with the paperclip.) A little submenu will pop up, paste your link (Ctrl +V). Click on ok. The name will still be highlighted - within that highlighted field you can rewrite their name to make it appear tidier. Or carefully backspace delete the redundant coding.

example:

http://www.ebay.com/usr/drury5757?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

looks something like this in the drop down box

"http://www.ebay.com/usr/drury5757?_trksid=p2047675.l2559" *redundant coding begins here* http://www.ebay.com/usr/drury5757?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

(The bolded words between the asterisks are mine...I made a muddled mess of the coding trying to show it all.)

Then you can eliminate the second set of http coding up to the closed [/URL] bracket.

Viola. Tidy link.

Hello again ladies!

I have one that, based on my small experience, seems fishy.

Item Name: "Vintage Coach leather Purse" (it's a court bag)
Item Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Vintage-COACH-Leather-Purse-534888aa2662030573001aaf

Concerns: The creed language looks different than anything I've ever seen. Also, I thought for the serial of vintage bags was LetterNumberLetter-NumberNumberNumberNumber. This one is a LetterNumberNumber. On top of that, the leather looks...loose. It doesn't look thick and doesn't look real.

The creed picture is hard to read so I deciphered it: "This is a coach bag. It was handcrafted in china from completely natural glove-tanned leather. The variations in the grain are characteristic of natural full-grain leather. Its superior craftsmanship and attention to detail reflect our commitment to enduring quality."

Item: Coach Lunch Box Vintage Crossbody Dark blue Leather purse Style 9991 Lunch Box

Item no:301109996555

Seller:studog1979

Comment: serial no shows style no 9991 but this is not a lunchbox

It's fake. The strap ends shouldn't be riveted and the squared end of the strap isn't right either. The year code is wrong for the B plant which seems to have closed some time in 2000. Obviously the style number is wrong since that fake is trying to be a City Bag #9790 but among other problems the inside pocket is much too small and should have a zipper.

The serial number sequence is not "always" how you listed it, some plants used a number as a plant code including Turkey and many of the early Chinese plants. And the creed wording is also exactly the same as in leather bags from the early Chinese plants. The leather from them also has a slightly different feel than the original US bags.

I don't see any problems with it, other than that it shouldn't be called vintage since it was made in 1999.

Thank you! :)

The seller is 16 years off on the year for starters, and Coach made nickel hardware available on most of their bags starting in the late 1990s. So there's nothing wrong with it on a bag from 2005.

Thanks Hyacinth. I'll report it.
