Thanks for your help on this BeenBurned. The seller has already responded and will issue a refund. I should have checked my list as the information was on there just as you said and I should have been more vigilant. :smile1:

Good evening. I purchased a vintage Coach Carousel tonight but it needs to be authenticated as the creed looks a bit wonky. I had not noticed it until my friend Two.time pointed it out. :smile1: I have already contacted the seller and asked her not to ship until she hears back. I've attached a photo of the bag and the creed. The dimensions of the bag are correct but the creed format would put this bag at around 1989 - 1990. All of the others I've seen were made around 1994 Any assistance will be most appreciated.

Yes, it's most definitely fake, the serial number is on Hyacinth's "list" as well as references to the phony stamp lines above and below the numbers.

Please post the listing.

Although it's not an excuse, in "defense" of seller rorogal, I'm guessing that she isn't aware that she listed a fake. Sellers are required to know items are authentic prior to listing so obviously, she was negligent but her other Coach items look okay.

Let us know the seller's response, perhaps suggesting that in the future, she authenticate her items that she didn't personally purchase from an authorized retailer.

The suede bag is authentic.

Thanks BB. I'll wait to hear from Hyacinth or Whateve on the other two which, fingers crossed, are good too.

I recently listed some bags on ebay.com.au and was pleasantly surprised when I got to the last step that a notice appeared asking me if I was sure I was posting an authentic item. This is certainly a new feature and a long time coming too!
Now they just need to require that you check a box stating that you do know it's authentic before you're allowed to list, and this thread will be redundant!

According to the seller: “Beautiful vintage bag with no visible flaws!”

(yeah, except it's fake.)
OFTLOG! ***************** needs to STOP AUTHENTICATING COACH!! This isn't the first time they've messed up. (They'll probably come here to say that the seller lied about the authentication. They did it previously.)

That bag was reported and removed on May 9. Here's a cache:

Yep! I reported this bag, I knew it looked familiar! :D

Now what? Shall I report to eBay, again? What are the potential ramifications?

I agree, the Saddle Bag is fake and once again "*****************" has screwed the pooch by claiming that an obvious fake is genuine.

In case the listing poofs and/or the seller or ***************** comes here, here's the creed.

Hi Hyacinth.

While searching for something else, I came across this listing for a carousel bag and recalled your post from yesterday suggesting we watch for the oval "0" in No and the elongated underscore. I also noticed that the serial number stamping (supposedly from 1995) is "too perfect."

Tonight I came across this listing. In addition to the "No" and underscore, I also noticed that the serial number stamping (supposedly from 1995) is "too perfect."

Is this bag fake?

This is the creed in forevermetzi's listing:

And a side by side comparison of the No:

The stampings were made by different mechanisms but the white bag is still fake. The J plant code isn't valid, the Coach cartouche and logo are much too big, the letters in the creed are very unevenly and badly made (they look like they were all cut by hand) and some are barely readable, and none of the stamping is even within a mile of real Coach quality from the letters in the Coach logo to all the wobbles and waves and unevenly thick lines in the serial number digits. It's a real MESS. The digits may be lined up almost straight but the actual details of the digits are totally uneven and inaccurate.

The "No" is borderline. It looks like a copy of one of the non-US digit sets but it's not the full-blown obvious fake set as the one in the red bag with the J4K- prefix.

I wish there was a shot of the entire inside pocket plus the zipper and the area above it, but the creed itself is enough evidence for me. The ends of the top zipper are set in diferently from the genuine one shown below, the zipper itself is badly and unevenly attached, the mountings for the removeable strap should be post-type and not just D-rings, and there are supposed to be TWO inside pockets, not just one, see the pics of a genuine one below.

Please report.

(I also need to reread before posting because I edited my comments a couple of times and ended up repeating myself.)

And just as important - in case AF says that they DIDN'T authenticate that fake, here's their letter:
