Genuine, style number 9892, early 90s.

Thank you!

Probably ok but it's a very early version, maybe late 60s to mid-70s - note how the strap is clipped right to the body of the bag. It's probably an early Convertible Clutch style 9635 but by 1976 that style already had the D-ring kind of attachment so it has to be earlier than that.

Very few of us are experts in the early styles, but Tetondeb is one of the few who are. You may want to PM her or check back through her blog since she's very busy with moving ATM, she may have pictures of that style somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will get in touch with her once she's settled into her new place. I'll also ask about the suede flap bag ... can't find any information about that one anywhere!

I believe this bag is fake but looking for more expertise than I have. I believe it's a knockoff of 10813 but someone else says it is 40530. I have never seen a Demi with a creed but no number under it.

Do you have photos of the entire front and back of the bag, including the edges of the bag and the strap clips? Or as we request in post number One of this thread, the URL for the item listing? Please read that post for the information we need to authenticate. The parts I really need to see are cut off in the photos you posted.

Style 10813 has a different patch arrangement, see the first picture below, and is a Small Hobo, not a Demi. The arranngement of the flower appliques is also different. The style in your photos is not a Small Hobo.

The Demi or Pouch 40530 is smaller and shown in the second photo. THAT'S the bag in your photos. And there are tons of Demis and Pouches with creeds but no serial numbers, and even some without creeds.

I'm sure the suede flap is genuine, Coach did quite a few suede versions of many of their popular styles but names and dates are almost impossible to find. If there are any catalogs or booklets with names and numbers no one here seems to have one or has posted scans of them.

Thank you lots! I bought the purse and am now haunting the rehab thread on how to restore the leather a bit before use. The Coach TPF is the basis of my newest hobby, I guess.

I also read the Coach serial number guide of yours, and found it immensely helpful:

http://www.ebay.com/gds/Coach-Serial-Numbers-the-Basic-Facts-/10000000034886433/g.html

Here's a purse that I found while browsing and can spot issues with:

Item: TAN LEATHER CLASSIC COACH STATION BAG 5130 VINTAGE EXCELLENT CONDITION

Listing number: 221442572432

Seller: kdavisjoy

Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/TAN-LEATHER...130-VINTAGE-EXCELLENT-CONDITION-/221442572432

Comments: The serial number reads H4L-5130, yet it also says that it was made in the U.S. Also, the number indicates that it was made in 1994 (I think I got that right?) but the purse does not look like a 20 year old vintage item, though that could be because it's been restored.
Hi Buttercuppish
I found a wonderful product for coach leather bags, the leather drinks it in and you hands get a nice conditioning also, so far its the best I have ever used on leather items
its called LEATHER CPR cleaner & conditioner, you can get it on eBay or Amazon.
buy the biggest one you can get you won't regret it.

Ty for pointing that out. Had I paid attention to the numbers of flowers I would not even have had to post. The patch placement is what threw me. I tried uploading individual pictures but it wouldn't let me and I can't link you because it's a private group so posts are only visible to members.

I sold one and I agree it looks good.

Whew, thanks, BeenBurned! I was getting a little concerned about the C's being off center...then I figured this metallic fabric is probably more expensive and they wouldn't waste it by centering the pattern. Would you agree?

No, it's an OPTIC Signature pattern and the Cs are different sizes and overlap to form "layers". That pattern is never centered because it would be impossible to do it, just like the larger non-metallic version in the picture below. Not all C patterns are centered.
