It's an authentic Sheridan Richmond 4209 from the early 90s. How do I say this nicely? The seller is overconfident about her expertise. "This is a very rare vintage 1960's coach. Late '60s coach do not have serial numbers. Coach started making serial numbers in the 70's. Yes the inside zipper do have the YKK which mean this bag is not FAKE. As an expert I know my bags and just want to make sure whoever is buying this bag is actually buying a 1960 rare vintage coach without a serial number."

DON'T say it nicely - just say that the seller's expertise consists of getting almost all of her facts completely wrong. Ironically though, she got the year range right in the listing title but maybe it's a typo. The description still says 1960s.

I bought a purse for my mom from the glass case at goodwill, and I was wondering if it was authentic? I was concerned that it says it was made in Costa Rica.

My serial # is G8P-9049

After spending 20 mins trying to get the photos to upload, I had to put them on my instagram.

It's a genuine Tango Flap from 1998.

When uploading photos to a post here, be sure that the originals aren't wider than 1000 pixels.

Thank you.

Would someone mind looking at this bag for me? Thanks so much.

I'm not comfortable doing newer bags either. Not only is there only ONE seller with the same style listed who I recognise and trust completely, but Ebay's new photo display doesn't give me the close-ups I need any more - VERY bad mistake to change that! but pictures of the same style bag from the same plant are showing two different creed styles in bags made just 3 months apart. There's another strange detail in the serial number of the white one that I've never seen before.

The white bag's serial number starts with "No.G1276-" with a period after the "o", earlier ones with D month codes are the standard "No D1267-" with the "o" UNDERLINED like Coach has been doing for 30 years. There are also one or two with a J month code that also have a dot after the No instead of the underline. The spacing and formatting also changed between April and July.

Without a photo library of what I know are genuine bags, I can't get involved in authenticating recent styles, sorry.

Oh, thank you both, Hyacinth and Whateve. I didn't know you aren't familiar with newer bags. I thought you were expert in all things Coach :-) Thank you for taking a look.
With your comments, Hyacinth, I will pass.

No, Coach just makes too many styles now. I'd have to spend every waking minute trying to save pictures of every new style INCLUDING the hundred or so every few months from the Outlets, and I don't have the time, patience or computer space to do that.

For example, from the early 1960s to about mid-2006, Coach style numbers only went up to 9999. From 2006 to the present, they've gone from 10,000 to in the low 30,000s. And that's almost ALL handbag styles. Sure, not all the numbers were used, but 20 THOUSAND style numbers in 8 years is more than anyone can manage to keep track of.

It also helps to have owned some of the styles if you want to be familiar with their details, and almost all the new ones have been out of my price rance and not to my taste.

So I'm ok with bags from around the later 1980s to maybe 2007, anything before or after that usually needs a different expert.

I much prefer the older bags myself--the leather is outstanding. Today I dug out a Coach wallet that I bought new in the late 1980s and cleaned it using the tips from the Rescue and Rehab forum. I am glad I saved it. It is made of water buffalo and still looks great.

Thank you.

I'm not ignoring your request; we only authenticate the styles we are familiar with. I don't own this bag and have never studied it, so you'll have to wait for someone who knows more about newer bags.

I apologize for my late response but I have a lot going on in real life and didn't have time to look at this listing as carefully as I wanted to until now.

I believe that the bag is authentic and as Hyacinth commented, it looks like Coach made some creed changes on this bag, accounting for differences between those made in April and those made in July.

I had one heck of a time finding any bags made in May or June of 2012 but finally, was able to find one listing showing a creed indicating a June manufacture with a line under the o in No. indicating that the change in format seems to have come in July of that year.

This image is the unedited (and hard to read) creed.

This is the same creed, enhanced and sharpened.

Thanks, BB, your photo enhancing software works much better than mine.

So apparently all the No D1276 prefixes had the old standard format with the "o" underlined, but for some unknown reason in all the 19924 styles made after July, Coach re-formatted the creed statement, dropped the "China" from the creed statement, and dropped the underline and replaced it with a period after the "o". A search also turned up bags with the No. and with H, K and L month codes. It looks like that plant closed, there don't seem to be any bags from the 76 plant with 2014 year codes.

WHY Coach did it is another question. I can understand dropping the name China from the creed and re-formatting it but the change from underline to period is really odd. I wonder if any other recent bags had that kind of change to the "No"?
