On the other hand, having anchors on the strap is a good thing. Not all straps have them because, again, Coach used several different companies, but during a certain period, they used the company whose logo was the anchor. The "Made in U.S.A." creed was used as well as the "Made in the United States." In 1989, there was a putty and a tabac color, as well as a British Tan.

ETA: the creeds were hand stamped so they weren't always exactly centered. This bag was probably made around 1989 - 1990.

Thank you so much! That's exciting! I'l have to check out the other two colors and find out what color it is. Would you know if there is any way to find more info on the creed numbers, or perhaps the company that stamped the anchors in the strap hooks??

Thanks, yeah it's in great condition and I picked it up at a little vintage shop for $30! I'd love to have a black one.... as I wear more black then brown. I'll have to check out the rehab forum, it didn't even occur to me to rehab it. Any links you would recommend?

It's authentic.

Not everything Coach makes gets on its website and items that are made for the factory stores wouldn't be shown on Coach.com either.

Although this link shows other patterns also, there are quite a few of the same patterned items.

I got this Lindsey teal embossed croc bag off our local ebay. I was going over this bag carefully when I noticed that the black "made in China" label has a dot on it.
It doesn't look or feel fake, but i think it's kinda weird that the creed patch is not the same leather as the bag. the creed leather has a slightly pearlescent sheen.

A lot of sellers don't read the creed or even know that it can be read. (I think some think that all creeds are identical.) They just assume an all leather bag would have been made in the US. Other sellers copy other listings when they make theirs, and forget to change the country of manufacture. Costa Rica is a good thing, both because the Costa Rican leathers are very nice and because counterfeiters copy US creeds most often.

The Costa Rican & Dominican Republic Bags I have are gorgeous leather,(1990s Lulas Legacy, & 90s Patricias Legacy) I also have the same 1990s bags from the USA. I don't see any difference between them & USA bags...it could be the seller made a mistake or it could be they are misrepresenting the bag..I don't know?BUT!! there is a seller with a DR bag, listed as USA, when I asked her about it, she said"oops, I made a mistake, I will change it~thank you..." she never changed it..Some people feel USA bags are worth more $$, some people don't care....

On scarves and the like, the dot means it came from the Factory Store. Maybe the store couldn't find the bullseye so the marked it that way.

I don't know why it has the dot. My Sophia doesn't, and it shouldn't. Mine was made at a different factory. The wording is different on mine, which could be because it is from a different factory. I've looked at several on ebay and I can't find one from the same factory as yours or with the same wording. Yours has a month code earlier than any of the others I can find. The leather for the creed patch isn't the same as the bag, because the bag leather is textured. My creed patch has a bit of a pearlescent sheen as well. I can't tell from your picture, but the hardware should be a pewter color, like silver that has black added to it. The leather on yours looks very faded, but that could just be the photo. I don't see any other problems.
