Please provide feedback on this bag, I'm wondering if it might be fake.

Brace yourself, the seller uses every search word in the book to list the item.:nogood:

The link you provided is to pursegirl214 who has a bunch of fakes mixed with authentic.
Here is the link to the listing by gvfurn: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281315065388

The prefix 0444 has shown up on a bunch of fakes. I don't see any problems with this creed, but I have to go make dinner so I don't have time to research the style. More opinions are welcome.

speaking of pursegirl214, is this authentic? The month code is N.

This one is definitely fake with a Korean creed:

Yeah, its fake, I already posted it on the Hall of Shame and made my very first report to Ebay.
N4H-9920 is on the fake serial number list. The bag shown in the pursegirl listing also has buckles.

This is what the real 9920 - Becket zip - looks like.

The bag that's listed with all the invalid search terms looks ok. But the seller doesn't list any measurements and the leather looks a bit rough. It's a Slim Zip Bag style 4018 from the Lightweight line and is from around 1992. It measures about 9x6 inches.

As for the other link you posted to pursegirl214 shows at least one other fake in her Current listings along with the one mentioned in the previous post, I would NOT recommend buying ANYTHING from that seller. Please report:

It's an obvious Korean-made fake with a Gibberish creed and invalid serial number.

ETA - looks like BeenBurned caught the Korean fake before I did

Thanks Whateve, BB, and Hyacinth....for ^.

Speaking of overinflated historical claims (like the above gvfurn seller).

This seller's listing has been bugging me for awhile. It isn't fake, so I didn't feel I should post it here, but in the interest of sharing valid and accurate information with other Coach buyers, I was wondering if you'd care to weigh in?

Thanks, yeah it's in great condition and I picked it up at a little vintage shop for $30! I'd love to have a black one.... as I wear more black then brown. I'll have to check out the rehab forum, it didn't even occur to me to rehab it. Any links you would recommend?

Here you go...to the latest rescue and rehab thread...in post #1 is the link to the one before that. It's a lot of reading but it's a fun thread with lots of pictures of before and after along with all the products posters like to use...or not. LOL

http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-clubhouse/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-833400.html

Your bag may not need any rehab other than a moisturizer/conditioner. Some like to give their bags a "dunk" to plump up the leather and make it smell fresh...more like it's always been "your" bag. LOL

Happy reading.

It's a standard clutch 5140, probably from the 80s, that someone added the attachments for a strap to. That is why it is "one of a kind"!

ETA: If it were a sample bag, I doubt Coach would have used leather of another color for the attachments.

I don't know why it has the dot. My Sophia doesn't, and it shouldn't. Mine was made at a different factory. The wording is different on mine, which could be because it is from a different factory. I've looked at several on ebay and I can't find one from the same factory as yours or with the same wording. Yours has a month code earlier than any of the others I can find. The leather for the creed patch isn't the same as the bag, because the bag leather is textured. My creed patch has a bit of a pearlescent sheen as well. I can't tell from your picture, but the hardware should be a pewter color, like silver that has black added to it. The leather on yours looks very faded, but that could just be the photo. I don't see any other problems.

Thanks, whateve. the hardware is silver, not pewter. and the color is more washed out than i expected. the 4th and 5th line of the creed has no space between words, 4th line: leather.itssuperiorcraftsman 5th line: shipreflectsourcommitment
the rest has space between lines.
Maybe it is made for Asian stores?

That's a prime candidate for a SNAD claim, especially " Everything original, in working order, no repairs/ replacements..." - the strap obviously isn't original since the leather mountings for the D-rings aren't even CLOSE to being the same color as the bag or even the right shape or position on the bag. It's such an obvious REPLACEMENT that the seller's nose must be growing like Pinocchio's every time anyone reads that description.

Then just below that the seller completely contradicts her previous statement and says "It appears that the D-rings on the sides - where strap attaches with "crab claws"-- were added after the fact, or it was a SAMPLE bag.. It might have been originally JUST a clutch.. but was made into convertible clutch/ messenger..."

Well, Toots, it's one or the other - it's either original or modified, it can't be both. And if COACH had been the one to add the strap mountings, they would at least have used a matching color leather, sample or not. The same holds if the mountings had been replaced by Coach as a repair, which it CERTAINLY wasn't because the new leather pieces aren't even cut or sewn straight. And when the verdigris on the inside of the pocket zipper is so heavy that it stains the creed stamp green, that doesn't say "no problems" to me. And too bad the seller can't tell the difference between a YKK and a TALON zipper.

There are plenty of sellers on Ebay who DON'T try to BS their buyers, I suggest buying from those sellers and not the ones who can't keep their stories straight.

Can you post a link to the listing where you bought it? I have some creeds where the words are jammed together like that. If the hardware were a different color than the original, I think it would have a different style number. The faded leather bothers me too. Was it described as heavily used? Does the style number look like 18622 to you? The third digit almost looks like an 8 to me.

I'd like to get Beenburned's opinion.

ETA: Please check these details:
1. The plaque on the front should be on a regular leather piece, which is slightly lighter than the croc color, with a thin patent frame.
2. On the side fronts where the buckles are, the decorative straps with the buckles should be patent leather. There should be a regular leather strip under this, with a thin patent frame around the whole thing. The patent should be slightly darker than the smooth leather parts. On the sides in the same area, there should be a vertical patent strip with a loop at the top with the ring for the removable strap. There should be a patent loop attached to this vertical strap that the decorative buckle strap goes through.
3. The color of the Coach plaque should be close in color to the bag.
4. The zipper fabric color should be green and the metal parts of the zipper are the same color as the rest of the bag's hardware.

When I first came across her listing I couldn't believe the lengths she went to to make a basic clutch sound extraordinary. And then I saw the aftermarket attachments :wtf:

The additional tabs were cut and sewn so poorly and off center if this were a sample bag I doubt highly Coach would even allow it to leave the premises.

These statements were especially bombastic:

Rare transitional style,
Rare shade that you can find ONLY on the early Coach bags
This is a VERY rare bag, an amazing vintage find.
..... can be found only once in a blue moon on really old ones.
Can be also a predecessor of a later Companion bag.
I've had it for years and years in my personal collection..

Yeah, BS is right. I took a peak at her other listings. All seem authenticate at first glance, but she does weave a Paul Bunyan size story for each. And has  affinity for Ralph Lauren sheets.

Thanks for your input Whateve and Hyacinth. I hope her potential buyers will come to tPF first.
