Let me know if it works. I've found that same problem with Lightweights, especially the color being uneven and spotted. I sanded one bag and now the texture is almost like suede. It isn't a Lightweights, but I don't know how to restore it back to a smooth leather surface. Conditioner makes it a little smoother but overly darkens it, and if it were washed again, it would feel like suede again.

It looks fine. Nice color!

I'll post it in the rehab thread when I'm done. I may have to use a refinisher if it doesn't smooth out. I love the style so it's worth the effort.

Thanks for the authentication Whateve. Unfortunately I missed the auction.

I'd like an opinion before I report. I've never seen a Sonoma made in Costa Rica. Is it possible that they used the wrong creed because they didn't have the specialized Sonoma creed in the factory?

thanks!
Do you mean full grain Sonomas? Both my Sonoma Nubuc Flaps were made in Costa Rica with the M plant, and the green one has an anomaly of the prefix digits switched.

I've had problems with rehabbing Lightweights. Maybe the thinner leather doesn't soak up the conditioner as well. I've never tried this, but if I had another one to rehab, I think I would try a different conditioner, like Leather Honey or Leather Therapy, or even mink oil.

Great suggestion...I'll do that after another soak...hopefully this will remove the CPR and BlackRock coats I've put on it. I just got my sample of Leather Therapy.

I'm still a little puzzled though...Joodlz's black one really has a nice luster/glow to it. I'd hoped for the same with this taupe one. But, I'm willing to give it another try. I only paid $20/21 for it.

I'm in the process of rehabbing my beige lightweights soft satchel. I'm having to sand every millimetre of it because the colour is so uneven and it's been splashed with something. It seems that the colour sits on top of the leather unlike glove tanned leather. It is also so, so dry. When I've finished sanding it, I'm going to slather it in Leather Therapy and wrap it in cling wrap and leave it in the sun and see what happens.

Gosh, I should have multi-quoted. My wine colored soft satchel rehabbed up great. It has the glow and luster and believe me...it had none of that when I received it.

I look forward to seeing your soft satchel rehab reveal. I wish you better luck than I've had with these lighter colors.

I'm sorry these posts of mine are in the wrong place...should be in the rescue and rehab sub-forum. I don't know how this happened.
