Hi! I'm new to this site and I am SO happy to have found it. I was wondering if someone could possibly help me. I would like to know if a Coach bag I purchased is real. I googled the numbers on the creed tag (E4P-9951) and it brought up the bag I have saying it is a Vintage Coach Patricia`s Legacy Bag. It is black. I have several pictures of it and I attached them with this but they are all sideways.: ( I don't know how to fix them. I'm so sorry. If anyone could help me I would be very, very grateful. Thank you!

Good afternoon everyone! I found a canvas Coach bag and matching. I am wondering if I could successfully restore them. So far I have only ever ordered leather coach bags, but this caught my eye. I was wondering if someone could authenticate the bag and wallet for me? Thanks!

(Edit: I forgot to add measurements! Here they are...)

Bag:
The serial number is J0668-10124
Bag length 13"
Bag height 9.5"
Bag depth 4.5"
Strap drop 9"

Wallet:
Wallet length 8"
Wallet height 4"
Wallet depth 1"

Without even getting into authenticity, once Coach's white or light-colored leathers get dirty, they're almost impossible to clean. Wait for more opinions, but I personally wouldn't try a restoration on a bag in that condition. Other members may be braver or more patient than I am.

I think that's one of the bags that was actually made in 2004 instead of 1994 like the serial number indicates. Apparently that particular plant never received updated stamping mechanisms - the "4" in the serial number should actually be "04".

It looks genuine but it's not vintage, since vintage in handbags usually means 20 years old or older.

BTW, please be VERY cautious about believing information you find on Google or in most other so-called "authenticity guides". At least 90 percent of them are partly or sometimes even completely wrong. Ask here if you want accurate answers, or use the Salearea Guides posted at Ebay as an accurate source, and fine-tune the details by posting here at tPF. Welcome to the Purseforum!

Good advice actually. I could buy a nice quality leather coach bag for the same price, so it kind of doesn't seem worth it, given that it is a difficult clean job. Thanks for the tip!

Since Hyacinth commented on cleaning, I won't repeat that.

As for authenticating the bag and wallet, both (but especially the bag) are very well-faked styles. As a rule, I usually recommend avoiding this style of bag (and 10125, too) unless purchasing from a seller who has proven herself to sell only authentic Coach.

Thank you very much. The woman I got it from purchased it new and then packed it in a bin in its dustbag in this room in her house that is solely for her collection of brand name purses. When I saw it I was amazed. She had hundreds of purses. So this purse that I have from her is impeccable condition. Not a mark on it anywhere, looks like it just came from the store. I would like to sell it because of some financial issues right now which is one of the reasons I wanted to verify its authenticity. I had purchased it to use myself but before I even picked it up I had learned that I would have to sell it so I didn't use it either. This was just a few days ago and I didn't want to back out of the sale because I had already committed to her and I would never break my commitment. Do you by any chance know or know how I can find out what a fair selling price would be? I have no idea what it is worth and I browsed eBay to see if I could get an idea but the prices people were charging were all over the place and very inconsistent. Some used one's were being sold higher then some new ones and it was just impossible for me to figure out who was being the fairest price wise. Sorry I have so many questions. I'm so glad I came upon this website. I know so many people that have had questions about their own purses. I've had many Coach and Louis Vuittons in the past and I've donated them to Goodwill for one reason being I could never sell something without knowing it's value in fear of overcharging. Thanks for everything.

Prices ARE going to be all over the place, and I wouldn't even try to guess what to ask. The condition is good, but you really need to work on taking photos that show it. Some of the ones you posted are out of focus and that's not good when you want to showcase a bag in good condition. And better lighting, preferably natural, is a must.

Also, black is the most common color for sale but not the most in demand, so you're competing with a lot of other sellers with similar merchandise. The most important factors in selling a Coach bag are condition, color, price, and sometimes rarity. There are no standard values, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Don't search for what people are asking, search the COMPLETED or better yet the SOLD listings for that style to see what they actually sold for. Asking price in a lot of cases is just wishful thinking. You'll need to use the Advanced Search feature:

Thank you so, so, so much for the great advice! I didn't even think about the pictures. I use my phone to take pictures and its not that great. I wonder if there are apps that might help with the clarity of the pictures and I'll try to set up some kind of background. I really appreciate the advice. You guys are great. I owe you big-time!!
