Okay, so I bid on this bag without getting it authenticated first because I thought I was getting better at identifying worthwhile purses. Feel free to admonish! I won this, pretty good price I thought but when I received it, boo hoo, the strap has been shortened really badly.

I feel like such an a** for not noticing it. I didn't even figure it out until I thought "Huh, that's weird, there is only one hole on the strap" then I looked and compared it to another Regis I have and it has had a major reworking of the strap. Both sides have been altered , drastically actually, one to the point that the whole thing was taken off, completely shortened and reattached without any ability to alter it.

So my questions are, albeit late, is it genuine? If it is can it be salvaged to use strictly as a handbag? Would you ask for a refund? Based on the sellers other stuff I would suspect they don't know much about Coach and didn't try to deceive. That being said however, they knew enough to correctly identify the style number. Suggestions?

It appears genuine. I assume the seller probably didn't know the strap was shortened. It looks like it was done professionally. I find it odd that the seller put unknown for all the measurements, instead of just measuring the bag. I don't know if ebay will consider it as not as described, although in my opinion, altered from the original manufacturer specifications should have been disclosed. The seller could have gotten the style name from looking at other listings. It really is a pretty color, though.

I agree with you that the seller was probably unaware of the alternations since they appear professionally done, even though the stitching on the shortest side is angled. It really is a pretty color and in fantastic shape. And $20.00 it is a pretty good price. I think I might take it to a cobbler and see if they can shorten the strap to make it strictly a hand bag. Really is a shame.

Just a comment on the seller, funfindsforsale. Fortunately, the Coach bag turned out to be authentic although altered, but she has two completed sales for a really bad fake Louis Vuitton bag. I assume that the first buyer returned it after learning it was fake and it was relisted and resold a second time. (Both listings have now been removed. :smile1:)

Funfindsforsale needs to do her homework.

Not Bonnie Cashin era. Bonnie Cashin left Coach around the time they started putting creeds in bags, so if you see a creed, the closest it could be is Bonnie Cashin inspired. This has a Made in the United States creed with a unique serial number so that dates it between 1988 and 1993. Bonnie left Coach in 1974.

I don't have this style in my files but it appears authentic.
Thank you for educating me on that! I had no idea! Thanks for authenticating it for me! Your the best:)

Thanks for the info. I have emailed the seller about it.

BB how do you find out about the sellers history? I always go into their history before I bid to check their fb but I didn't see any red flags about selling fakes. Did you find it through a search of tpf? Thanks.

When you go into the items the seller has for sale (their store?! Or page) on the left is a tool bar with price range, category etc. at the bottom there is a 'show only' category and one of the options is "sold listings" click on that and you can find the items she sold! Great tool! Just figured it out a little while ago myself! Hope I helped!:)

I looked at the completed listings and opened the listing.

I'm not expert when it comes to LV; I know obvious fakes. And hers were bad!
