Item: COACH LEATHERWARE RARE VINTAGE NAVY BLUE LEATHER COURT SHOULDER BAG PURSE #2041
Listing number: 161190300031
Seller: batauru56

Comments: This court bag looks genuine to me. What makes me second guess myself is how the serial number has 3 numbers-4 numbers while it also has "Made in the United States" on the bottom. Isn't that particular sequence for the serial number supposed to have "Made in New York City, U.S.A."? Or is this just one of the cases where the factory did not yet follow the change?

It is genuine. The serial numbers were in the xxx-xxxx format for awhile before they changed to the xxxx-xxx format. The change to Made in the United States didn't happen at the same time that they changed the number format.

Whoa, it even came with the strap? So jealous! I don't have the name in my files but it appears authentic. Maybe something like small Bleecker bucket.

Thanks...yeah, I was happy-dancing over the strap and a hangtag...and in gorgeous condition!

Genuine but the name and number aren't in my files - I usually don't save pictures or information on accessories. There are just too many of them and so many seem to be MFF and almost impossible to track down names or numbers or any information.

Thanks...I found one on ebay that matches all the details...no name, but listed for $125...yikes!

It's a Bleecker Small Basket, introduced as an early 1999 style.

Thanks, again!

Thanks so much friends! :)

1- seems ok

2- obviously the leather hangtag doesn't match the bag and may even be fake, the shape is off and the sides aren't perfectly straight like they should be. The brass charm on the same chain doesn't belong with the bag either, it's a much newer decoration that was also widely faked - hard to tell if it's genuine but it doesn't add to the value of the bag. The bag itself seems perfectly genuine.

3- the bag seems genuine but you may want to ask the seller about the statement "leather polished/ conditioned and hand-buffed to arrive ready to use". If someone's done any polishing it's always a good idea to ask what kind of polish or conditioners were used. Some sellers use quality conditioners designed for smaller fine leather goods like bags, while a few have been known to use shoe polish, which we DON'T recommend at all. The bag is being sold "As Is" so if it's been treated with the wrong kind of polish or chemical you need to know that before you buy..

Thank you so much for the authentication, and the tips! :smile1:

I think it is fake. If that is nickel hardware, the creed is at least 2 years before that was introduced. I don't find any other creeds either before or after that date from the D plant with the extra dash or that font.

There are genuine creeds from the D plant with that extra dash but later, not in 1996. And as BeenBurned said, the date in the bag is much too early for silver-colored hardware. The serial number font is also completely wrong. AND if the second digit in the serial number is either a 5 or 6 there's an even bigger problem with it.
