Hi ladies,

Happy Holidays first!
My friend bought this coach and doubt if it's genuine as "the stamp looks very faint" according to her:

Item: Coach Taft Legacy" 9980 Listing number:
Seller: francesca3507
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-BAG-B...R%2BNkX6DlokLe4Q6nkIY%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
Comments: The creed is quite faint. The seller also had several in different colors (all sold out), and at least one of them has clearly stamped creed

Thanks ladies!

They all look genuine to me.

Thanks Hyacinth! So the really faint stamp is fine? Merry Christmas

I don't see any problem with it, some leathers take stamping better than others. As long as the stamping is even and the other details are good, there's no problem. A light stamp just by itself doesn't prove something's fake.

EDITED TO ADD - Here's a bag from the same plant and year, also with a light stamping but with the same exact font as your friend's, AND with a Nordie's Rack stamp on it.

And remember, just using a bag can wear down a creed stamp.

The bag appears authentic. In my opinion, those deep grooves and scratches will not come out with a bath and conditioning. I think the only option would be to use leather filler. I've never used it myself and I don't know how good the results would be.

I can see how you would think that, but I've seen wide variations in the length and shape of the tab piece on the sides of the bag. I own a basic bag with a glued-in serial number that has an elongated tab, similar to your newer bag. The hardware is slightly thinner, like your older bag. This would make sense because the older bags were more likely to be solid brass and since that hardware was heavier (and probably more expensive to produce), most hardware on older bags is thinner. I used to have another basic bag also with a glued in serial number that had a short tab on the side like your pre-serial number bag. It also had thinner hardware. I don't remember ever seeing a zipper quite like that one. I believe both bags are authentic.

ETA: I didn't think I had ever seen that anchor symbol on the strap's dogleash clip, but in examining my NYC basic bag, it has the same symbol, but at the base of the clip near the swivel. How exciting to find something new I didn't realize was there! I've got to be more observant!

Anchors??? I have an anchor on my red NYC basic bag too...I have 2 others that I'll check later this morning.

I also have an anchor on a belt buckle that BeenBurned deemed questionable. Here's a link to the belt authentication request: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-818914-392.html#post25413362
and BB's reply: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-818914-392.html#post25413836
I agree that the belt itself is pretty sloppy, but now the anchor makes me wonder...

2 more anchors...
Basic bag...zippered clutch...both NYC with glued-in registration numbers...both have anchors at the base of the dogleash clips above ring. The ones on the red Basic bag I mentioned earlier are next to the flipper thingy that opens the clip.
Guess maybe if I polished my hardware better, I'd see these things LOL!

You're welcome...I LOL'd about your comment about your "other freezer"! We moved to Florida 15 years ago after 13 long, cold years in South Bend, Indiana...now 60 is cold :)

But tell the truth now - don't you miss waking up to all that lovely "lake effect" snow? And having to shovel the driveway every three or four days just to get the car out?

We actually had a "dusting" late last night - not even enough to cover the lawn, but just enough to make the sidewalks and driveways look nice.
