Hi guys! Can you take a look at this handbag and authenticate it for me? I have not seen a creed listed like this before, so I am interested in seeing what people say about this. One more bag to follow soon! Thanks again.

The creed is listed as: 0120-344
Listed as a vintage station bag
The style in the description is listed as : #5130 (although this is not stamped on the bag)

DIMENSIONS: 8 1/2 L x 9 h x 1 1/2 d
Thanks guys!

It's genuine. Coaches made before 1994 don't have the style numbers stamped in the serial number. This one is legitimately vintage and was made some time between 1990 and 1993. Read the Salearea Guides to Coach creeds and serial numbers posted at Ebay for an explanation:

Hi, guys, hope everyone is enjoying their time off! Can someone look at this one for me. You know I love the Sonoma line. This one is listed as Nubuc but it looks like pebbled leather to me, even the creed. I looked at other 4935's, also show as suede, so now I am confused. Thanks.

Comment: what color green is this?

The creed clearly says -4903. Don't EVER depend on what the seller types as a serial or style number! A lot of them just look for something that "kind of looks like" what they're selling and so they copy the wrong number. That one's Natural Grain, not Nubuc.

I have NO idea what color it actually is. Maybe Sea? Kind of a pale celadon shade?

Thanks, I actually looked closer myself and saw that number, I tried to edit but it didn't show up the way OP Edits show up.

Thanks! I thought it was fishy. Plus the fake dust bag.

I remember the same bag was listed less than a year ago. The seller's description sounds like complete BS - for one thing, Coach wasn't using magnetic snap closures in 1942 - in fact, I doubt if they had even been invented. The earliest mag snap I can remember on a Coach product is mid to late 1980s, although I'd love to know if anyone has found anything older. Posts at the VintageFashionGuild site seem to point to the 1960s as the earliest date they've found for magnetic snaps.

Second, and this is the same thing I mentioned before, that vehicle stamped on the bag is NOT a Coach. Coaches are usually multi-passenger vehicles. And I SERIOUSLY doubt if the very early Coach Inc would have stamped anything that overblown and tacky on any of their products.

Read the description :
"For those of you who don't know, the coach company began as a company that made the leather seats of coaches (for horses). later they branched out using their leather for purses. Well since it started out as stagecoaches, the orignal purses had the stage coach on it. this purse is one of the FIRST bags coach ever made. it is a total collectors item. My grandmother purchased it in 1942 (the coach purse company opened in 1941). it is suede with the coach logo on it. IF there are any questions please let me know."

The first items they made were small leather accessories, NOT leather seats for horse-drawn vehicles, of which almost none were left by the time when Coach was founded which as we all know was 1941. (STAGECOACHES in 1941??? REALLY???? Only in Hollywood in John Ford westerns, folks!) Coach didn't start making purses until the 1960s.

The dustbag is also a total fake, but the seller is feeding everyone a line of BS. ETA - PLEASE USE THE FLAG BUTTON TO REPORT THIS POS.

Here's the previous post and it even has the same fake dustbag. Both were posted on the Philadelphia Craigslist so it's probably the same lying SOB seller.

Pictures and "description" and the seller's name are also posted here at the Hall of Shame as well as below:

NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM CRAIGSLIST SELLER MANAYUNK

Happy Holidays! Could you authenticate this for me? I am a little leary of the serial numbers, but I will leave it to the experts. TIA

Does it have a pigsuede lining? It looks like a genuine Candidate Brief from late 1993, style 5356. The strap looks like it's been replaced with one probably not made by Coach.

Comment: I just want to know if this bag is authentic

There's really no way to tell without a much larger, clearer, readable photo of the creed patch and serial number. Almost all Madison styles have been faked a lot, and unless someone likes to live dangerously they should always be sure there's a verifiable photo of the creed and serial number included in the listing, or should ask the seller to send or post one.

I don't see any major red flags but if you're the buyer, please take clear photos of the patch and serial number when you get the bag, and mention these posts and their numbers.

Here's another one that is fake.

Fake, "Made In Korea"
I recommend against buying from my-beautiful-things. The seller also has two other current listings with fakes in addition to the fake "made in Korea" bag:
