Happy Christmas everyone. It's 34C here (93F). Have to wait for the early evening for it to be cool enough for my son and me to ride our new bikes!

Christmas in summer just seems unnatural somehow. It's -8 degrees C here and I'm lovin' it. (As long as I don't have to go outside!)

So we'll spend the day inside with Ralphie, Scrooge and the First Plantagenets.

Wish we had more snow though. HAPPY CHRISTMAS! Or is it already over?

2 more anchors...
Basic bag...zippered clutch...both NYC with glued-in registration numbers...both have anchors at the base of the dogleash clips above ring. The ones on the red Basic bag I mentioned earlier are next to the flipper thingy that opens the clip.
Guess maybe if I polished my hardware better, I'd see these things LOL!
That's exciting! I feel like an explorer who just discovered a new species...well maybe not! I never notice these things until I see them in a picture.

It's not a City Bag and it never retailed for $278. It's the much smaller Pocket Purse, which is only about 9 by 5 inches compared to the City Bag's 11 by 7 inches. At the time this one was made (1998) it would have retailed for around $165.

I can't get much enlargement of the pictures but it seems to be genuine.
Thanks so much for your help, Hyacinth!

I remember the same bag was listed less than a year ago. The seller's description sounds like complete BS - for one thing, Coach wasn't using magnetic snap closures in 1942 - in fact, I doubt if they had even been invented. The earliest mag snap I can remember on a Coach product is mid to late 1980s, although I'd love to know if anyone has found anything older. Posts at the VintageFashionGuild site seem to point to the 1960s as the earliest date they've found for magnetic snaps.

Second, and this is the same thing I mentioned before, that vehicle stamped on the bag is NOT a Coach. Coaches are usually multi-passenger vehicles. And I SERIOUSLY doubt if the very early Coach Inc would have stamped anything that overblown and tacky on any of their products.

Read the description :
"For those of you who don't know, the coach company began as a company that made the leather seats of coaches (for horses). later they branched out using their leather for purses. Well since it started out as stagecoaches, the orignal purses had the stage coach on it. this purse is one of the FIRST bags coach ever made. it is a total collectors item. My grandmother purchased it in 1942 (the coach purse company opened in 1941). it is suede with the coach logo on it. IF there are any questions please let me know."

The first items they made were small leather accessories, NOT leather seats for horse-drawn vehicles, of which almost none were left by the time when Coach was founded which as we all know was 1941. (STAGECOACHES in 1941??? REALLY???? Only in Hollywood in John Ford westerns, folks!) Coach didn't start making purses until the 1960s.

The dustbag is also a total fake, but the seller is feeding everyone a line of BS. ETA - PLEASE USE THE FLAG BUTTON TO REPORT THIS POS.

Here's the previous post and it even has the same fake dustbag. Both were posted on the Philadelphia Craigslist so it's probably the same lying SOB seller.

Yeah it was 3:10am here when you replied so all over for another year, sigh. I guess like most things its what you're used to, Christmas in summer that is. It wouldn't be too special if it was in winter here anyway as we don't get snow just frost sometimes. Christmas marks the beginning of the summer holiday season. The kids have 6 weeks holiday from school, the days are long and it's a great time for beaches and BBQ's. It would be nice to experience a white Christmas though. Something for my bucket list I think, along with owning a Coach Musette and a pleated gathered Caroline!

The bag appears authentic. In my opinion, those deep grooves and scratches will not come out with a bath and conditioning. I think the only option would be to use leather filler. I've never used it myself and I don't know how good the results would be.

Dear whateve,

Thanks for your reply :) sounds like the bag needs alot of work and since the selling price is quite expensive, it is not really worth getting. Will give this a miss and continue my search for one in a better condition.

Hi guys! Can you take a look at this handbag and authenticate it for me? I have not seen a creed listed like this before, so I am interested in seeing what people say about this. One more bag to follow soon! Thanks again.

The creed is listed as: 0120-344
Listed as a vintage station bag
The style in the description is listed as : #5130 (although this is not stamped on the bag)

DIMENSIONS: 8 1/2 L x 9 h x 1 1/2 d
Thanks guys!

Hi, guys, hope everyone is enjoying their time off! Can someone look at this one for me. You know I love the Sonoma line. This one is listed as Nubuc but it looks like pebbled leather to me, even the creed. I looked at other 4935's, also show as suede, so now I am confused. Thanks.

I am sad Christmas is over too!:( 6weeks for break! Lucky. You should be happy where you guys are in Florida and such because in Minnesota we have terrible roads and at least a foot of annoying snow on the ground! Ugh! Moving sounds good in my future!:) but it is still fun to play in, but not driving in! Hehe
