I can imagine how you feel. It isn't a lot of money - it is just the principle. If you opt into managed returns, all the buyer has to do is claim it isn't as described and ebay will charge you for the original shipping and the return shipping. The buyer doesn't have to prove her claim and the seller doesn't get to argue.

If you accept the return but don't agree to pay the return shipping charges, I don't think the buyer can open a claim just for shipping charges. There is nothing to stop the buyer from leaving negative feedback though.
You hit the nail on the head about both points whateve.
I would LOVE to opt into the managed returns program...first of all the return shipping costs are so much less than anything the buyer would have to spend if they return on their own, so that is a big plus that I would love to offer my customers.
But I can't do it at the expense of having to eat all the phony return claims - there are too many unethical people who will choose "item not as described" to avoid having to pay any return postage, AND I am also out my original postage.
Personally - if I make a mistake in a listing (I'm human) I send the buyer a pre-paid shipping label because I think it is the right thing to do.
But if I did not make an error, I don't want to eat those costs...heaven knows I am not in the same place as some of those top internet stores like ZAPXXXX...... etc.( Don't want to advertise for them)
It's bad enough that ebay charges sellers fees on shipping charges!!
But this is not the venue for all that, don't get me started..lol.

And last but not least...I was so crazed by shopping yesterday, I bought a wristlet I already have one of LOL! The other one was in October, I think. Hyacinth said 2004-ish, no name or style, MFF. And I'm guessing the dustbag I bought is real, as it matches others I have.

Thanks in advance for all of this...Happy Sunday to all!

OMG you live in Coach heaven!!

Ladies, I just got one of those dreaded messages from eBay saying that the items I purchased have been removed and if I haven't yet paid, don't. Problem is, I already paid. The seller marked them as shipped but didn't upload any tracking info. Since the items have been removed I can't post the listings but I was able to snag these photos from my Paypal page. They're very small photos so I'm not expecting much but maybe, just maybe you can give me opinions. Thanks in advance for any assistance you might be able to provide.

Several of us are VERY familiar with those keychains, since we've repeatedly reported them to Ebay as fakes in the last 4 or 5 days, and Ebay has just sat on their useless arses and done NOTHING to prevent them from being sold. All three are very bad fakes. It's a shame you didn't ask about them here before you bought them, we could have saved you some aggravation.

The seller's name is manalof

The listings were:

Just out of curiosity - why would you buy any highly-faked item like keychains without having someone here look at them? I hope you haven't done that with other keychains. And please DON'T do it again.

Not only does the seller keep their listings Private, but they've had two Negatives and a Neutral out of 14 total ratings in the last 12 months:
bad quality, not worth the money.
and
Item shipped is used/scratched item, and the seller's reply was buyer's remorse

Since Ebay has apparently gotten their heads out of that dark place at least temporarily and removed the listings even though they still show in the seller's Completeds, you should be able to contact them and say the listings were taken down as fakes by VeRO and you want a full refund.

OMG!!! I knew they were too good to be true!

I bought them without checking here first because they were SO CHEAP. I wanted to scoop them up quick, wait for them to arrive and then have them checked. Honestly, I thought #2 was fake but I had high hopes for #1 and #3.

CRAP!!! I'll never do this again. I feel like such a complete schmuck!

you can contact them and say the listings were taken down by VeRO and you want a full refund.

Which them, Ebay or the seller?

Thanks, while it's not the answer I hoped for, I really do appreciate your time and expertise.

Wait for more opinions on who to contact and how. I haven't had to file a claim against a seller for a loooooong time and don't really remember the process.

And always remember Daria48's Rules To Bid By:

Sellers can LIE.
Photos can be STOLEN.
Feedback can be FAKED.
Ebay "Buying Guides" can be - and usually ARE - WRONG.
Ebay isn't there to help you - it's there to MAKE MONEY.
If something looks too good to be true - IT IS.

Oh believe me, I know all those rules. This isn't my first rodeo either. I've been buying and selling on eBay for close to 15 years. That's the thing that bothers me the most. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER. I made a rookie mistake and ignored that little voice inside. I did the very thing that normally has me rolling my eyes when I hear about someone else doing the very thing I did. So not only am I a moron, I'm evidently a hypocrite as well.

Just a hint - any time you see a keychain with one of those 2-tone white & brown or brown & white flat rectangular 2-piece "gift boxes", RUN LIKE HELL. Because 99.99 percent of the time, what's in them or photographed with them is a three-dollar fake.

Coach DID use a ONE-piece box that opened on the ends for a few months about ten years ago, but we see maybe three or four of those a year. The 2-piece boxes have been used by fakes makers and sellers probably in the hundreds of thousands for at least that long. And none of them are ever genuine.

The last time I had a listing I had won removed by ebay, I think I got a message that said I had to wait until after the expected delivery time before I could open a case. I never opened a case though, because the item I bought wasn't fake.

I'd reported those three fakes from manalof beginning on December 19. I was bummed when I saw that they'd been sold and crossed my fingers that the buyer hadn't paid yet.

What I would do is tell the seller that you want a full refund of every cent you paid and if she already shipped, as long as you get the cleared refund, you'll agree to refuse the package and mark it return to sender. (DO NOT REFUSE if she doesn't refund first. You'll lose a case.)

If the seller doesn't give a refund, open a dispute if you're able. I'm not sure whether you can open a case yet or whether a case can be opened on removed items.

It also won't hurt to call ebay on the phone and get it on record that the items were paid for, supposedly shipped and removed and confirmed as counterfeit.

Refer the seller, manalof here if she denies that they're fake.

Your help would be greatly appreciated in authenticating this bag:

Item: Vintage Coach City Handbag
Listing number: 477966 (Threadflip)
Seller: human
Link: http://www.threadflip.com/items/477966
Comments: Bag seems to have been made in Turkey.

Thanks in advance!

It's not a City Bag and it never retailed for $278. It's the much smaller Pocket Purse, which is only about 9 by 5 inches compared to the City Bag's 11 by 7 inches. At the time this one was made (1998) it would have retailed for around $165.

I can't get much enlargement of the pictures but it seems to be genuine.
