HELP ASAP....on the phone with Ebay now. They are saying that per their policy... we now have to have an official certificate of authenticity with each Coach bag that we list. Guys... I have over 100 listed and over 500 in stock.

Not even sure how to respond to this honestly. The Coach store/customer service is a joke... Jed and the archives aren't going to waste their time with this.

Thoughts?

First it was a very limited english speaker. I asked for a supervisor then customer service specialist called me back from the Utah office. This is not going to end well...for any of us.

I've got a call back coming now. I'll update then.
Unbelievable! I'd keep calling until you get someone with a brain!

BTW, what was the item number of that removed listing? ETA: Was it 261312428389?

Poor little Alka Seltzer!!!!

It is genuine of course!!!! I have had or do have 20+ of these...not sure what's going on with Ebay but I'm sure it has something to do with all the counterfeits.

Hyacinth...get out your rubber stamps and certificates...you're going to be busy!!!:graucho:

I wish I had some, I'd be a rich woman!

Thanks… I got worried when I saw the wordings are different than the norm.
Understand that with Coach, there is no "norm." Different collections have different styles and wordings. And over the years, Coach has changed and re-changed just about everything that some considers to be "rules" or "standards."

Remember that the most consistent thing about Coach is its inconsistency.

Okay. ...I literally spoke with 15 different people then called some higher ups that I know personally at coach. One of the jackarses at eBay tried to tell me that he wasn't able to find the exact documentation of the complaint and that coach must have been the one to complain (lie)!?!?!?!?!?! I asked them to give me documentation for that and had my friend from Coach contact the Vero specialists ([email protected] for future reference). I also told them that they needed to search "vintage coach" to see that they were about to lose 1000's if listings if they were going to start requiring CoA's.

Just received this from eBay :)

I'm not Hyacinth but I'll authenticate it for you. The bag is an authentic Coach. It was made before Coach used creeds or serial numbers. The seller is a little off on some of her information. I doubt she actually did "extensive research." Coach started using the creed in the mid 70's so this bag could have been made as late as the early 70's. This style was designed in 1967 by Bonnie Cashin so it isn't older than that. The style is not unique or very rare. It was made for many years as it was very popular. It is called the skinny tote. Even though it doesn't say it, it was made in New York City at the original Coach factory. Later versions were unlined. It's a beautiful bag. Congratulations on winning the auction!

Technically, vintage means anything at least 20 years old. Twenty years ago, all Coach bags were all made in the US. Many of the bags that were made in the mid to late 90s that we associate with vintage styles were made in plants in the US and other countries.

Hi whateve, Thanks for all the information and time for authenticating this vintage Coach.

Item: Vintage Coach Bonnie Cashin kisslock tote

Comment: is this authentic please? It's a lovely colour and looks to be in very good condition
It looks authentic. I'm not sure what color it is. I bought a vintage purse that was a beautiful orange, but once I bathed it, it turned red. This one looks more like a orangey brown.

They just got me, too - for a pre-94 satchel - and I did use the word 'Speedy' style as suggested by TERAPEAK <--eBay partner, no? I don't usually use that term - but sales have been sucky lately - I thought my keywords might be at fault.

Off I go to telephone HELL.
I have no friends at Coach any more haha.. so this could get interesting.

They pulled this on me once for a Dofan Frame bag that I mentioned "Grace Kelly" in the description -- ??!! And was told "celebrities names can't be used"

Seriously - because, yaknow a "CERTIFICATE of AUTHENTICITY" (??) is super hard to fake, especially today!

(edited to add a "Certificate of Authencity"-- think this one would work?)
