I did a follow up response (you may have found ti by now) and posted a photo of the "new" Legacy zip circa spring 1997. So a 1994 Legacy zip shouldn't have existed :nogood: I am curious about brass though, is it better if it DID say solid brass? or is the wording "solid" wrong for that period? I don't think mine said the words, but can't remember, (and bag is off in the "mad at you" pile right now.)
No, it shouldn't say solid brass. Did you think it was solid brass? During that time, I think Coach was using brass plating, not solid brass.
Where is your follow-up response? I would like a photo of the spring 1997 Legacy zip ad for my files.

Comment: I've done it again, gone and bid before authenticating! Hopefully I got it right this time? At least I haven't paid yet. Seller sent me a pic of the creed (before I bid). Your help much appreciated as always.

For some reason I couldn't upload creed pic so had to stick it in here:

It looks fine. The seller is wrong about the date. It was made in 1994.

One Spring 1997 Legacy Zip ad, coming up ...

And the reason I think it's possible that it may have been released a few years earlier and then held back is because the style number is right in the middle of a string of several dozen different style numbers between 9948 and 9980 that were all introduced between Fall 1994 and Winter 1995. I know Coach didn't always assign style numbers in sequence but in this case I think it's a good possibility. Here's a copy of my style numbers list for that time period to prove that I'm not just pulling excuses out of thin air. Ignore the typos:

I'll repost for ya. Spring of 97. (Just checked, and bag doesn't say "solid" anywhere). And it's one of the first fakes of this style I've found which has ALL brass grommets, feet, buckles zippers , all match up fine. which is of course why I chanced it after being fooled before. This was the best I've found yet! And of course it's all gorgeously rehabbed and minty .... for nothing LOL. I have a serious hatred for these fake makers now!!

Thanks! I'm sorry you did all that work on a fake. It is scary how close the fake makers get sometimes.

Just to mention..eBay does have a group of people they recruit when they see repeated success in fakes being reported. They send a message inquiring whether this person has any other areas of expertise and if they would agree to be 'watchdogs'(my words:) they receive letters of appreciation and maybe a small gift from eBay from time to time. When these people report fakes eBay is more likely to take a hard look at the item in question and remove it.
I'm just wondering how you'd know this. It certainly isn't something ebay advertises!

Thanks Whateve. I did tell the seller that when she sent me the pic of the creed. So many sellers love to exaggerate! Like this one. I sent a message pointing out that the creed says it was made in China but it's still there!

You're welcome! It's true lots of sellers really exaggerate! I'm even amazed at how many sellers say they don't know the country of manufacture when it says it right on the purse. My daughter believed her Zoe was made in the US until I pointed it out to her.

To the seller's credit, the "NYC" and "60s" have been edited from the title. I wonder whether she reads TPF.

And from what I've heard, it's also not something that the people who may be in the group are supposed to talk about either. It's my understanding that mentioning it can get members removed permanently. Someone who's bragging about being in it would seem to have their priorities a bit skewered, or are looking for attention since it sounds like they're missing the point of the program, whatever it is

Oh, I'm sure it is not advertised but it seems former eBay sellers have openly discussed this. One in particular claims to have been sued by Coach for 2 or 3 hundred dollars.(over one bag) I never heard the outcome but she claims she had someone research the law firm she received the letter from & it was a genuine firm. I have never heard anymore about suits from Coach so don't know if this really happens or not. Anyway she was talking about eBays program... She also said eBay has Coach personnel on staff that looks at items reported . What I read here seems to refute that however.
There was a discussion on another forum about this very thing. And I believe several on TPF. Personally I think eBay has it's own agenda & everybody else can just speculate on it.
