Just a quick question. I had a Legacy Zip (9966) looked at by you guys a while back, (after having bought enough fakes to make me about give up on them). Hyacinth- I think -actually said, that as best she could see, it had no obvious problems. Given how many truly awful fakes I see on ebay on a regular basis, I am really annoyed that Ebay pulled this particular bag off. How do I get them to allow me to post it? I instinctively feel it's good based on comparisons to my other bags, and the solid hard core brass, etc etc. But here is the posting I first gave you guys just to have more opinions? If it is good/sellable in your opinion. what do I do next? Post #5052 is the submission I made previously. http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-763164-337.html#post23661681
thanks, jess
p.s. you know SO MUCH MORE than people reporting this stuff on ebay. it makes me crazy how ebay just believes any one no matter whether they are qualified to give an opinion or not!

My concern is the zipper pull. It seems too short and not the right shape. It's possible that there were other features visible in your listing that were also suspect. The J4D prefix is known as being one of those that is used for some very good counterfeits. The other thing I don't know is when this style was introduced - is 1994 too early?

I don't know what you can do to make ebay reconsider it unless you can pay someone they trust for an authentication.

I have to agree with Whateve. The longer zipper pull is the only one I've seen on an authentic Legacy Zip (see attached). I've also attached a creed photo from a fake bag I have in hand that looks a lot like the one on your bag. My fake is a beautiful bag but has details that are not correct, for example in addition to the zipper pull, the spacing of the holes on the strap is off.

You mentioned brass - are the buckles on your purse stamped solid brass? That can be an issue as well for what is supposed to be a mid-90's bag.

I stay away from these now, along with Janice's and Tafts.

Hello,
I'm new to this site and I have a question. I have two coach purses that I want to get authenticated. I was told to take them to the outlet mall. Instead of me taking them there (it's extremely far) can I get them authenticated on here?

P.S. Take a look at the video to see the bags I want to get authenticated.

Don't go to the outlet! We can't stress this enough. Coach employees are not trained to authenticate. From what I could see of your bags, there is a good chance they are authentic. We need pictures of the creeds inside the bags, as well as clear pictures of the outsides and insides of the bags and wallet. Also include pictures of any label on the wallet.

You got kind of lucky because you got semi-accurate information however, not only are outlet employees not qualified to authenticate but boutique employees aren't qualified nor knowledgeable enough either.

As you saw, the male employee immediately stated that the black Hamptons weekend tote was fake and based his opinion on the lining. Although a picture of the creed is needed to confirm, that IS the correct lining for that style.

The other signature tote also didn't have any red flags but again, a picture of the creed is needed.

According to these 2 Coach employees, they seem to believe that if the style/serial number match what the bag should look like, the bag is authentic. Nothing could be further from the truth. Many fakes have "correct" serial numbers for the style they're trying to copy but they are still fake.

As for the wallet, there's no way to even comment on that because the video didn't show much of it at all.

Although it was entertaining to watch a video, in the future, please just post pictures of the items. (REfer to post #1 of this thread for what we need to see.) We really can't spend 8+ minutes watching videos in order to authenticate. Plus, the videos can't show clear and definitive enough pictures as needed for authenticating.

Comment: I've done it again, gone and bid before authenticating! Hopefully I got it right this time? At least I haven't paid yet. Seller sent me a pic of the creed (before I bid). Your help much appreciated as always.

For some reason I couldn't upload creed pic so had to stick it in here:

I did a follow up response (you may have found ti by now) and posted a photo of the "new" Legacy zip circa spring 1997. So a 1994 Legacy zip shouldn't have existed :nogood: I am curious about brass though, is it better if it DID say solid brass? or is the wording "solid" wrong for that period? I don't think mine said the words, but can't remember, (and bag is off in the "mad at you" pile right now.)
