Hello Hyacinth,

I noticed that the long strap is missing but I probably won't need it. But...if anyone knows how to get a replacement, I would love that. I will ask Coach to send me a replacement hang tag. I don't supposed they have replacement straps too? I have updated my list with the correct style name. I love the vintage Madison bags and wish I could buy them all. :-)

The only place to get a matching strap would be Ebay, and chances are pretty slim. Or you might get really lucky and find another red Madison with exactly the same strap fasteners - be CAREFUL, they used several very different kinds including both clips and under-flap snaps!) at a thrift store. Or you might find one in the same shade in smooth leather, but the Madison colors aren't exactly the same as the rest of the Coach lines. And the colors were different each year - yours is from 1996 so it's probably Scarlet, the red from the year before was darker and called Garnet. And to make things MORE confusing, Garnet was still available in 1996 until Spring or early Summer. So if you found another Madison with a strap it would have to be a later 1996 version for the color to match.

Coach usually only sends either brass or nickle color hangtags as replacements, but the brass ones look very nice with the Madisons.

Thank you so much again, Hyacinth. I will ask for a brass hang tag from Coach and hope to stumble across a matching strap one of these days. Thanks for providing the exact color too. Based on the photos, it is truly scarlet red. I will let you all know when it arrives. It should come pretty quickly as the seller is also in Florida.

Bag looks to be authentic, but seller is a shiller (has another account to boost up the
bids).

I've reported all current shilled listings as well as completed, but as always ebay is slow to move.

I've noticed that on some auctions as well. The "person" goes on, bids the price up but never completes the sale. I try to stick with Buy It Now whenever possible.

Hello Again,

I forgot to ask if the brass strap connectors for the Bristol will be the same as those used for a Savoy. If so, I noticed a couple of places where I can them if needed. I will keep watching for a red Madison bag with the correct strap though. :-)

I don't get why she starts her listings out at .99? With no listing fees I guess it may be something I should start looking for.
Thank you for posting. I've added shelbyheck69 to my BBL as well as to my "sellers not to buy from" list.

Thank you for all the helpful info. I noticed on the British tan station bag, the bottom stitching doesn't look very neat and straight. Is this something I should be concerned? ImageUploadedByPurseForum1377885399.133635.jpg

Also, could you please help me to authenticate this bone leather court bag? It is so hard to find a white one that is in good shape. There are some marks on this one, do you think a leather cleaner would do the job? Thank you.ImageUploadedByPurseForum1377885696.781360.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1377885706.548883.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1377885716.018852.jpg

The white Court Bag looks ok. The Station Bag base shouldn't be a problem, we've seen other genuine bags where the stitching got a little sloppy on the base. I guess they just figured no one would notice.

As for the marks, it depends what they are. Wait for other opinions, I never buy white bags because that color really hangs on to dirt.

Here's the only Bristol listing I found showing the strap clips. Wait for advice from someone who's owned one or the other.

It is very difficult to get the marks out of a white bag. A lot of the time, they are wear marks so cleaning won't get rid of them. If there aren't a lot, you could camouflage them with acrylic paint.

She wants you to think you are getting a bargain and then suddenly the price goes up. If you get caught up in the bidding process you can end up spending a lot more than you planned and maybe more than the item is worth.

I like either Buy it Now maybe with Make an Offer. I got a beautiful new Willis that way. I got the cognac color I wanted for less than on the Coach site and no sales tax. :-)

Did you happen to notice the bidders on that green bag? One of them was me but I got distracted and lost out on it. I actually like the red one a bit better anyway. I will keep looking for the missing strap. Those strap clips look identical to the ones on my Savoy bag but will see what others think.
