Comment: your views on this would be appreciated re: authenticity, age, rarity etc

I've never heard this called a courier. It's an authentic saddle pouch. They aren't particularly rare, but you don't see them all that often. As usual, the seller is wrong about the age. It is a decade younger than described, made in the mid 70's to mid 80's. The burgundy is a lovely color.

Although their Coaches are genuine, that seller is usually at least five to ten years off with the dates s/he gives to older vintage bags, and unfortunately has either written, or Copied & Pasted an older Guide, about Coach serial numbers that also has most of the dates wrong and should not be depended on for dating a Coach bag.

Thanks very much to both of you. I get the impression there's a lot of exaggeration by sellers when dating vintage bags

It looks good to me, but you may want to wait for Noshoepolish to look at it.

Thank you Hyacinth, I so appreciate all that you and your fellow authenticators do. It looked good to me to, but the fact that I can't find any in green makes me a little nervous. Hopefully Noshoepolish will be able to confirm.

Just because you can't find it in green doesn't mean they didn't make it. Not only is that one 19 years old and there aren't that many out there to find, but green was never one of the most popular colors in briefcases since most briefcases were bought by or for men, and men in general prefer "guys'" colors like black, brown or tan. Coach also made a lot fewer of each style in non-basic colors than they did of the basics. This particular one was made in November 1994 and Coach's 1995 Spring and Spring Preview catalogs show that style available in Bottle Green so there's no problem with the color or the date.

Thanks for setting my mind at ease. I am always amazed at the wealth of information you have. I won the auction, can't to get it and start the rehab.

You're welcome. There definitely is a lot of exaggeration, but I think it is due to ignorance rather than a desire to deceive.

True - exaggeration, misinformation and just plain mistakes. And a smattering of basic deliberate untruths too. But if the sellers can't or won't take the time to research the products they sell, then it's up to the buyers. As the Romans said, Caveat Emptor.

Hi all,

This is my first post. I would greatly appreciate if you can please help to authenticate my very first Coach purchase for item F40977 that I have bought it off Ebay.

When I received the wallet, I noticed some glue like substances around certain areas and also some "double-stiches". I understand that factory items are definitely not as perfect as the ones purchased from Coach stores but do they even use glue?

I have contacted the seller about my concern and his reply was that he was not aware of the glue like substances. The wallet is from the Coach Factory store and he looked over the units carefully and that he won't buy them from the store if he sees them with glue marks. The seller also stated that he usually buys several at a time and must have over looked. He suggested to use the Coach leather cleaner. The seller also mentioned that he does not have another one like that to switch out.

Thanks in advance and I really appreciates the time and effort. :smile1:

Could someone please authenticate this Coach wallet?
Bought at Goodwill yesterday.
Approx. 5.25"w x 4"h x 1"d (empty)
Is it a Hampton Scribble - or what? Any idea of age?
Any and all info is always appreciated...Thanks in advance!
