I just received this one today. The purse itself is in pretty good condition but the grommets on the strap are silver colored. It is very difficult to tell from the pics in the listing. When I look closely at the grommets a couple of them look like they may have been brass plated but it has worn off. The grommet that has the buckle through it has the most brass on it. The buckles say solid brass. Does this mean that the purse may be counterfeit or was Coach using brass plating as a cost saving measure or to lower the weight of the purse? Thanks.

If the buckles say solid brass and yet it is only brass plated, that is not something Coach would do. IMO, any bag from the 90's that has buckles that say solid brass is counterfeit, since the buckles are obviously not solid brass. I don't like the look of that creed either. Compare it to this listing, made just one month later. I have a bag, different style, from one month earlier, and the font on mine, matches this listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-C...946?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4d10c45c5a

I was looking at that listing. I think I will return it since the seller will do refunds. It'll have to wait for a couple of days. My dad fell (he just turned 92) and I have to go see him. Thanks.
I'd like to chime in with advice regarding seller lee6rlr.

Although the seller's return policy allows you to return for any reason, I'd recommend you tell the seller that the bag is counterfeit and cannot be relisted upon return.

Clearly lee6rlr doesn't do her due diligence as far as authenticating her items prior to listing them. (It makes me wonder whether this is the reason for having private listings.) You might want to refer her here!

She ALSO sold this fake Coach bag with an invalid serial number/prefix:

Comment: would love to know if this is authentic and if so when was it made. Curious about the serial number which appears to be stuck on
Authentic watermelon tote from the late 70's or early 80's. Coach used the glued on serial numbers for awhile during that era.

Comment: I have never seen this style before. Are they common and is it a good price? Is it authentic and if so am I correct in that it was made in 1995? Thanks for your time.
Authentic. Yes, it was made in 1995. I don't think the style is extremely rare, but in that color and nubuck, it is pretty rare. I'm not exactly sure what color it is. If it is grape, then that is an excellent price IMO.

I can accept brass plating wearing off grommets, but the Solid Brass on the buckle is a bigger problem.

I've seen a few other similar serial number fonts with C plant codes so you can't really use it for authentication either way without more evidence.

I was considering this one too. Lovely color, but it doesn't appear to have the hang tag. After having it authenticated you might want to check with the seller.

good point! I didn't even notice the hang tag before:( fortunately I'm not the highest bidder now... I think I will wait for next one!

I like the cute green color too:) Thanks for your reminder!

Comment: your views on this would be appreciated re: authenticity, age, rarity etc
I've never heard this called a courier. It's an authentic saddle pouch. They aren't particularly rare, but you don't see them all that often. As usual, the seller is wrong about the age. It is a decade younger than described, made in the mid 70's to mid 80's. The burgundy is a lovely color.
