Is there a way to search to find out if a seller has been flagged not to do business with. It's possible to list a fake without knowing it, I guess, but you'd think a seller would have some curiosity about an item's authenticity. I tried entering a seller id in this thread but nothing came up.

Sometimes the search doesn't work.

I save some of them to my "favorite" sellers list in ebay. It isn't ideal because you have to remember to check the list.

Who is the "in-denial" seller?
It is emr1543. Hopefully?? it'll arrive tomorrow and I can check it out more thoroughly. I don't think she was trying to bamboozle an unwitting buyer but her responses to a legitimate concern of mine shows she is sadly lacking in communication skills. Remember that old joke of some guy lying on a shrink's couch and his response to some query? "I said, I don't seem to have any friends. Why don't you open your ears, a**hole!.:D

One big problem is that tPF's Search doesn't recognise common characters that a lot of Ebay sellers use like dashes, asterisks, or anything that isn't a number or letter. So if you enter a name with one of those characters, nothing comes up. You can still search the ID on Google and get results, but here we've learned to list an untrusted seller's name both ways, with and without the characters, so it has a chance of being searchable. Such as "We don't recommend buying from Joe_Blow or Joe Blow

You also have to be sure that when you're entering an ID in a post and you want it to be searchable, it's a good idea to make sure the spaces right before and right after it are blank. So if you're using parentheses, commas, periods, etc.,, skip those spaces -
" Joe Blow " instead of "Joe Blow"

Have you referred emr1543 here? Whether it's knowingly or not, a seller is responsible for knowing that any items are authentic before listing them. And unless a seller personally purchased directly from an authorized department store or from Coach, unless she's expert, it's a good idea to verify authenticity before listing.

Here's the listing:

I asked her if she had ever been on this site to authenticate. I told her I had provided tpf with the link to her listing. That's when she went off calling me "overly sensitive" and "boarder-line (sic) paranoid" I guess because I didn't just take her word for it that it was authentic. She told me she had bought it as a vintage piece but was assured it was real.
