Thank you very much

Both look good. The rambler isn't as old as the seller says. I believe the style wasn't introduced until 1986. I just got a trail bag like the second one. It is so cute!

Whateve is right about the Rambler Bag, it wasn't introduced until Summer 1986 and has NO connection with Bonnie Cashin.

Hi I'm newly posting on TPF although I have been lurking around for a while...
Anyways, I am pretty sure that these are authentic but I would rather be safe than sorry so;

This one on ebay:

Item: Hunter Green Coach Court Bag 9870
Listing number: 271171478719
Seller: devonsnew2you
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Near-Vintag...719?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3f231464bf
Comments: I also asked the seller if it came from an outlet as it has the "target" shaped stamp near the creed and the reply was:
"This bag was originally made for the full price retail store. In 1995 the outlets only sold overstocks from the full price store (they didn't have their own line of merchandise like they do today). Judging from the bulls-eye stamp near the creed, this bag was sent to and sold from the outlet (my guess would be it was an overstock item). To obtain this same bag today, you would have to order directly from the full price retail store. The factory store would not carry this bag today. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for your interest, "

I also have my eye on this one on etsy:

Item: Green Leather Satchel/Crossbody
Listing number: -
Seller: GrandmaFliesABroom
Link: http://www.etsy.com/listing/1117557...a_ship_to=US&ga_page=3&ga_search_type=vintage
Comments: i don't know much about pre-90's coach bags but from what I've read it seems like it is from the 80's

Thank you!

Is the Court bag as bright of a green as it appears in the pictures? The bottle green from that year was more subdued a color, I think. Other than that, it looks fine. The station bag is probably from the early 90's. It looks fine too.

ETA: Sorry, for some reason, I thought you had already bought the court bag.

The green color shown on the photos of the Court Bag is much more "emerald" than the actual Bottle Green color. If the bag is that color IRL I'd suspect it was redyed.

As has already been posted, seller GrandmaFliesABroom on Etsy is NOT recommended.

My comments are in Purple.

I would NEVER BUY OR RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE ELSE BUY ANY COACH PRODUCT FROM " GrandmaFliesABroom " on Etsy or anywhere else!!
Thank you for confirming. These bags aren't my area of expertise and I didn't even go through all her listings. Geez, it's almost as though a seller has to try to find THIS many fakes!

I just got so carried away by the colors and prices and impulsively bidded because the creeds looked good to me. :sweatdrop:Can any of you ladies tell me if these are real? I think the daypack is, but I'm not so sure about the second item....TIA! :smile1:
The second one is authentic. It's a pouch with a creed but without a serial number.

I'm not too sure about the first one either. That M plant code was being used during at least part of 1997 by Coach's Costa Rica plant, and mid to late 1990s serial numbers beginning with the letter J for the month of September seem to have at least a 25 percent chance of being fake or seriously questionable and should always be authenticated. Costa Rica was definitely using the M plant code in April and November but I've also seen what may be a genuine J7M- (September 1997) prefix with a Made in the US creed, so it may be ok. It's just one of those serial numbers I can't be 100 percent sure of without more evidence either way. I DO know that 2 months later the M code was back in Costa Rica again.

I don't know the style number of the second one but it's actually genuine, probably from between 2004-2006 judging by the color ands style. It's just a Pouch and small bags like Pouches and Swingpacks may not have creeds or serial numbers.

How do we as buyers report sellers for these kinds of returns policies? Under the report item button?

I had been eyeing a bag I really want (equestrian slim duffle), at a very good price, but the seller had a really aggressive return policy in the text (despite officially listing "14 days money back or item exchange, buyer pays return shipping") that said that he would only accept returns if the item was SIGNIFICANTLY NOT AS DESCRIBED, and then buyer pays return shipping. So, I passed.

He also seemed to be obfuscating about Ebay raising his fees if he didn't offer the policy, rather than the issue being maintaining his Top Rated Seller status.

Top Rated Seller Plus status is what gives him the 20% discount. Offering the 14 day return policy is part of maintaining Top Rated Seller Plus status. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/top-rated.html

Thanks! I think I will try the nice route (despite him seeming quite aggressive in the listing) because I would like to bid on the bag. He would have sold it to me last time if he hadn't had that policy.

EDIT: Is it getting harder to get fakes removed? I have noticed some of the ones I report (made in Korea since that is all I feel comfortable reporting) have stayed up.
We have noticed that ebay hasn't removed anything lately.

Thanks, Hyacinth and Beenburned. I'm pretty worried about the second one. What other evidence would you guys need to authenticate it? Should I take it to the coach store once I receive it? Thanks so much!

Don't take it to the Coach store. They don't authenticate. The bag looks fine. There are enough pictures in the listing to see that it is authentic.

I agree with Whateve. Coach doesn't authenticate and generally, they aren't even familiar with bags that aren't currently in their stores. With an 8-year old bag, you probably would be asking a kid who was in elementary school at that time that bag was made and wouldn't know the answer to your question. And generally, as history has shown, if they don't recognize a style, they deem it fake --- whether there's any basis in that finding.

The pouch is authentic and you can enjoy it knowing that it's real.
