Thank You So Very Much In Advance!!

The bags in the listing look good.

mmmm.......
Seller offers "Free Shipping".....but.....

In "Return Policy"....it states...."Buyer pays two way shipping fees, even if free shipping was offered, the original shipping fee will be subtracted from refund."

HUH?????...............

I can understand the seller's point of view. I wonder if ebay is okay with this. I know sellers are allowed to charge a restocking fee but that is usually a percentage.

ETA: I just read her return policy. I don't see how you can say returns are accepted in bold print and then have a caveat that says only if item was grossly misrepresented. Obviously, she put the 14 day return policy to get top rated seller status.
The seller has a return policy and as such, she's required to accept returns for any reason.

She does have a right to have a right to charge a 15% restocking fee (as stated in her terms) and she can require the buyer to pay return shipping (also as stated). But she's not allowed (AFAIK) to deduct original shipping PLUS charge the restocking fee.

IMO, that's double dipping.

Her policy though IS in violation because she states that returns are only for misrepresentation. And in the case of misrepresentation, not only is the buyer entitled to a FULL refund of the original price including shipping but she cannot charge a restocking fee.

Her policy:
I accept returns only if I have grossly misrepresented the item, then I must be notified that you are returning the item within 3 days after recieving. Item must be returned in original condition as recieved with all tags attached, dust bag etc. and in original packaging. All returns are subject to inspection prior to money back refund. Please read item detailed description and ask questions prior to purchasing. Buyer pays two way shipping fees, even if free shipping was offered, the original shipping fee will be substracted from refund. Should you wish to return the purchased item for a reason other than above mentioned, a 15% restocking fee will apply & original shipping cost substracted from refund payment. Pryor return approval is required for this reason. Buyers remorse is not a reason for return.

I missed that policy when I first looked at the listing but precious706 should fix it before ebay does or before a buyer reports it.

It's almost like GrandmaFliesABroom shops for fakes in order to find so many. (There are 5 pages of listings in her Etsy store. I only went through about 2.5 pages.
I think she buys anything that has the right number of digits in the creed. I wonder if she doesn't really know which ones are real or if she knows but thinks she can get away with it.

Maybe either she or her buyers will google her name and find these posts.

How do we as buyers report sellers for these kinds of returns policies? Under the report item button?

I had been eyeing a bag I really want (equestrian slim duffle), at a very good price, but the seller had a really aggressive return policy in the text (despite officially listing "14 days money back or item exchange, buyer pays return shipping") that said that he would only accept returns if the item was SIGNIFICANTLY NOT AS DESCRIBED, and then buyer pays return shipping. So, I passed.

He also seemed to be obfuscating about Ebay raising his fees if he didn't offer the policy, rather than the issue being maintaining his Top Rated Seller status.

Comments: I am less interested in authentication (though it'd be great if you can, there is no creed pic) and more interested in this statement the seller makes:

This is a 100% Coach bag, guaranteed; if it's not I'll refund you back your money (if you ship it to Coach and they send you a letter stating that it's a fake; I'll refund you all you money back (just show me the letter))

Does Coach even have this kind of service? If not, this seems kind of fishy, no? Is this a warning bell or just someone who is clueless?

I don't know whether reporting through the "report" button is effective. (I'm having trouble getting obvious fakes removed, so for that type of policy violation, I'm not optimistic that ebay will be all ears.)

To give sellers the benefit of the doubt, they might appreciate a heads up as a warning. The seller can charge a restocking fee and require buyer to pay return shipping but with a return policy, any item can be returned for any reason.

Here's the policy:
ReturnsYou're required to specify your return policy in your listings, even if you don't accept returns.
If you accept returns, a buyer can return an item for any reason, including when they change their mind about a purchase—as long as the return meets the return requirements—for example, returning an item within your stated time frame, and meeting item condition requirements.

Thanks! I think I will try the nice route (despite him seeming quite aggressive in the listing) because I would like to bid on the bag. He would have sold it to me last time if he hadn't had that policy.

EDIT: Is it getting harder to get fakes removed? I have noticed some of the ones I report (made in Korea since that is all I feel comfortable reporting) have stayed up.

There was a time that Coach did offer the service but it's been a long time since they stopped doing it.

If an item is fake, the buyer is better off filing a dispute and if necessary, paying $7 for an authentication (un-authentication) from an approved authenticator.

What the seller is suggesting is hogwash.

Even if the listing had a creed photo, I'd still avoid it because of the bogus restrictions the seller puts on returns. Coach dropped their authentication service at least 4 or 5 years ago. They even post that right on their website:
"Coach DOES NOT authenticate merchandise or determine whether serial numbers match actual Coach items..."
http://www.coach.com/online/handbag.../InvestorRelations/ReportingCoachCounterfeits

It also seems like the outside of that bag looks a bit rough. It might rehab ok but there's no excuse for a seller not showing the creed stamp and especially the inside of the bag just to show what condition the interior is in.

Please wait for other opinions on this bag from GrandmaFliesABroom. I would hit the back button on listings from sellers who neglect to authenticate their items before listing them.

I have doubts about this listing from the same seller. I don't believe that the style number is correct for the bag:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/115323289/ivory-leather-coach-crossbody-messenger?
Not only is the style number completely wrong for a supposed City Bag and actually belongs to a Metropolitan Briefcase, but the plant code during early to mid-2003 was being used only by the Dominican Republic plant

Please look at these:
And these seem to have an incorrect plant country code based on where the bag was made:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/125536496/vintage-coach-9790-black-leather-city
Plant code belongs to Costa Rica

http://www.etsy.com/listing/125532050/coach-large-black-legacy-slouch-9966
As above, the "P" plant code belongs only to Costa Rica

I haven't gone through all her (many) Etsy listings, but I believe that GrandmaFliesABroom should be doing a better job validating her items.

ETA: Is this what style 4157 is supposed to look like?
http://www.etsy.com/listing/125513973/coach-vintage-black-4157-handbag-purse?
Fake serial number with style number -4157 belongs to a Soho Buckle Bag. This is a fake Bleecker style and wasn't even made until 2 years AFTER the date code in the serial number

I know 9927 doesn't look like this:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/100686207/large-ivory-leather-coach-crossbody?
ANOTHER fake serial number. Style -9927 belongs ONLY to a Willis Bag, and a Coach serial number starts with a month code that includes letters from A to M. Coach has NEVER used "W" as a month code.

My comments are in Purple.

I would NEVER BUY OR RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE ELSE BUY ANY COACH PRODUCT FROM " GrandmaFliesABroom " on Etsy or anywhere else!!

I just got so carried away by the colors and prices and impulsively bidded because the creeds looked good to me. :sweatdrop:Can any of you ladies tell me if these are real? I think the daypack is, but I'm not so sure about the second item....TIA! :smile1:
