Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a good afternoon. Picked this up at the thrift store today, and I think it may be a vintage fake, the lining doesn't look right and the creed is stamped on pebbled leather.

Item Name (if you know it): Some sort of sonoma?
Link (if available):
Creed #: I can barely read it, but it looks like A6T-4903

It's navy, and measures about 12.5" across and 8" top to bottom.

Take it back, it's fake

Fake serial number - looks like A6T- to me too but T wasn't a valid plant code for Sonoma Bags and the style number is for a Sonoma Flap. It should have a black-on-black striped lining, the zipper pull doesn't look right, and the outside zipper is very badly sewn in and much too wavy.

It looks like it has some of the same problems that were discussed here a while back, even the same unreadable creed:

Notice that the one from July has the wrong zipper pull on the outside pocket but it has the correct lining. Both that one and the one you bought have identical serial numbers but the Coach logo at the top of the two creeds looks different, which wouldn't happen if they were both pressed from the same stamp.

EDITED TO ADD - here's a genuine Sonoma Flap style 4903 from a tPF member where the seller has photos of what are the questionable areas on the other bags. Notice the difference in the zipper pulls on both the inside and outside pockets, the fakes seem to have gotten all the details wrong there.

Thanks Hyacinth! I was 99.9% sure that it was wrong, but you are the authority, so I know I can always rely on you! I saved the best photo for last - check out what the former owner added to the inside zipper

A Gucci shopping knight - ROFL!

Hello again! I have two more vintage Coach bags that I found this week, I hope you all don't mind checking these out. Here's the first:

Item Name (if you know it): Not sure - looks like a tiny Willis!
The creed was hard to get a pic of, the bag is small and my camera is too big! The No. is E7C-9023, and she measures about 6.5 x 7

Here's the second bag. I was excited when I saw it, crossing my fingers!

Item Name (if you know it): ??

She measures around 10.5 x 6.5 (it was hard to measure her, she was a little smooshed).

Love that bag. It's a "Winnie" from 1997.

Hi everyone. I have 2 bags for authentication. One I think is probably real, the other I think is probably fake. As always, thanks for taking the time to help!

1) Satchel type bag, unsure of name. Bought at thrift store.

2) Bucket type bag, traded some vintage Ferragamo shoes for several bags, (a really nice suede Dooney, this bag, and a very obviously fake LV, with a couple of other random department store bags). I suspect this one is fake, because the serial number looks weird to me. I don't want to waste my time rehabbing this behemoth if it's not legit.

The top one looks like a genuine Baxter Bag style 9903 from the early 1990s.

It's hard to be sure either way about the second one. I've never seen a genuine bag with an R plant code without a Made In Thailand creed. The number also seems a bit "off" and so does the placement of the creed stamp on the inside pocket. It also has several details that have shown up both in confirmed fakes and in bags that had some small problems and couldn't be positively authenticated. I'm not sure it's fake but there's a good possibility.

Thanks, Hyacinth. I think I am going to hold off on rehabbing the second one, unless I find a slam dunk authentic twin. I still come out ahead in the trade, so I don't feel bad, ($30 of vintage shoes for a $200+ suede like new Dooney).

Could you elaborate on the details that are questionable? Also, is there a list on here of plant codes? I've tried the search feature, but if there is one, I haven't found it yet.

The second one might be a Basic Bag. Did it come with a long removeable strap and can you post a pic or tell us whether it was a a single or double strap?
