1. Authentic Watermelon Tote. I have the same bag (different color) and mine has the brass kisslock frame. Some othes have the frame covered with leather.

2. You're right. The "S" makes it fake. Plus the font on the creed looks odd too.

3. I don't recognize the bag, though it looks OK to me. Hyacinth should look at that one to be sure. I've seen messier creeds that are OK.

Thank you very much.
1. I have a watermelon tote and mine has the leather frame but mine has a glued on serial number. So I guess this bag is older as it appears to not have a serial number.

2. I have seen that same font on fake creeds before and I wonder if that font would be enough to identify a bag as fake if everything else seems okay. I asked about the S because Hyacinth said that sometimes they screwed up the order of the month, year and plant in creeds. I have a Sheridan with that error.

3. I've never seen the bag either. It is really big for a vintage bag.

You're welcome.

My Watermelon Tote (with the metal kisslock frame) was made pre-creed and only has the word "COACH" stamped into the leather.

My Skinny Tote with the glued in serial number has the leather covered kisslock frame.

It's so hard to determine the exact age of those older bags when Coach made it so confusing. Who knows, maybe they were using the covered frame and the metal frame at the same time.

The third bag is a Light Tote from the Lightweight Line, style 4065, late 1980s. Coach gives the measurements as 16x13x4. The S code in the second bag probably wouldn't have been used even as a plant code in purses until China 2001.

Thanks. I appreciate the information about the Light Tote. I was pretty sure that the S code wasn't correct for a US plant. The bag looks like a pretty good fake.

Item: Legacy 9966 bag

Purchased from Ebay a long time ago. No seller info.

comments: Everything about this bag is very good but some details about the creed patch and a few other things have me concerned. I have 2 other authentic 9966 bags in other colors for comparison so that is where my concerns come from. I posted my concerns with the photos in the photobucket album. If you need pics of any other angle or part of the bag I missed just ask i will add to the album. Thank you to all the authenticators for their service here. It is very much appreciated.

A few things worry me. One is where the creed is stamped, it should be more toward the center of the largest section of the pocket. The other thing is that the P plant code should belong to Costa Rica. There's a Janice's Legacy currently listed on Ebay that also has a serial number starting with J8P- and the creed shows Costa Rica. That serial also shows the slightly different P in a font that didn't quite match the rest of the digits and that was found in most of the earlier P Costa Rica plant codes. It would be really unlikely for that prefix to have been used by 2 different plants in the same month and year. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Near-Vintag...014?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2eba7da106 Here's the creed stamp from the J8P- Janice's Legacy - I can't say for sure if yours is genuine or not, but it seems questionable at least compared to the one in this photo:
