You're correct! The creed patch is crooked, the words stamped on the creed are crooked, the stitching is crooked, PLUS it has the letter "N" for the month code. I can't read the wording on the creed either.

I've seen numerous fake Sonoma bags, but there is usually something that makes them really obvious fakes. I still can't see anything in those pictures that makes me think that bag is a fake.

Wait for other opinions. I've been wrong before!!!

:smile1:

I'm not at all familiar with those bags...just thought the creed was off and wanted to point it out in case it was overlooked :)

I am hoping someone can identify and authenticate this bag. It's a briefcase/messenger size, and was given to my ex husband by his coach fiend aunt.

Any assistance would be welcome!

Opinions please. I don't have this bag and although I don't see red flags, I've never seen the Coach plaque fall off on an authentic bag.

Does anyone have this bag in this color to compare? TIA.

In the pic with the zipper here on the inside...is that pocket zipped shut?

Because usually Coachs zippers (w/ Madison anyways) start on the left and open by pulling to the right.

And yes, quality control is lacking nowadays, so I wouldn't doubt that a plaque could fall off. Heck, we have even seen them upside down, LOL!

Hi, I would like to know if this handbag is Authentic and any other info. (ex. year, model, etc.). Thanks In advance, Michelle:smile1:

DemRam needs to look at that one. The leather has more texture than I've seen in really vintage Coaches. The stamp looks ok but I've never seen a really old version of this style before for comparison.

Sorry, my previous attempt to include photos didn't work.

It looks like a genuine Metropolitan Brief from 1999. There aren't any red flags that I can see but more opinions would help.

Yes, PCL. The zipper is open. There were a couple of other pictures that I didn't enlarge that show it more clearly.

I do think the bag is fine and the problem with the Coach plaque seems to be a quality issue, as opposed to an authenticity issue.

Hyacinth, what do you think of this bag? I don't plan to bid because the condition is too poor; but I am curious about it. I have never seen this style bag or an 8-digit serial number before. Thanks!

Comments: The serial number on this vintage bag looks odd to me; is it a fake?

I don't recognize the bag and don't know "style name", but I've seen quite a few bags over the years, with the 8 digit serial number.

Those older bags were stamped by humans and by hand and mistakes were made in the stamping process.

Wait for other opinions.

DemRam's right, it's just a stamping mistake that turns up once in a while. The bag looks like a genuine Plaza Bag.

Thank you, both! I did a double-take when I saw that 8-digit serial number!
