Request for Hyacinth or DemRam. :flowers:

Purchased: Salvation Army
Size: roughly 9.5 by 5.75 by 2 (it's hard to make sure the flap is folded at the "right" height when measuring the height).

Pictures: attached
Request: Real? Name? Years made? (It says NYC, and the serial is three numbers then four, so if real, 80's?)

Comments: I couldn't find anything glaringly wrong, and couldn't resist that it's yet another made-in-NYC (or at least claims to be). Too small for me, but if it's ok, will rehab and daughter wants it. (Oh, and I can't resist a sidenote ... we found a fake Gucci there, and daughter (8) easily pointed out two of its problems. The little Jedi is learning. ;) )

Genuine - it's a Pocket Purse probably from about 1987-88. Original retail in 1987 would have been $104.

The Little Jedi learns quickly - congratulations to her on her Black Belt and her new LV! :flowers:

Before buying from this seller, you might want to check out the 78% feedback. There are several feedbacks that would certainly cause me to think twice.

Ooooh, thanks for pointing that out. Sometimes I get so excited I forget to look at that. Plus I think that one has a reserve but I don't really understand what that means.

A reserve is set when a seller wants to start the bidding low (presumably to encourage bidders to have bidding wars) but seller doesn't want to sell the bag too cheap so they set a reserve as the lowest price they're willing to accept.

If bidding doesn't hit the reserve, the seller isn't obligated to sell.

Oh ok, thank you for explaining that. I wasn't sure if the highest bidder was then obligated to pay the reserve price without knowing what it might be.

Thank you thank you! :flowers:

The LV was actually for earning that black belt. The test was 3 hours long, included everything she'd learned over the previous three years, and ended with 10 solid minutes of other kids trying to beat the you-know-what out of her. If you run away, you fail. By the time she came off the mat, her ponytail holder was nearly out, she was crying, and had snot all over her face. But she *did* it, and became the school's youngest black belt. :D :D

So as of now she's up to 3 "modern" Coach, 2 vintage Coach, 1 LV, and the 1 Juicy that we purchased primarily to get her picture taken with Mr. Gunn. A lot for a child, I know. But she's a good child ... shes a hard worker, at everything she does. Good grades, black belt, and she's even the reining "Bible verse memorization" champion at our local Awana club. She's a good kid, and we're so very proud. :smile1:

Thanks again, as always. :flowers:

You sound very proud of her, and you should be. She sounds like a very focused and determined young lady who's willing to work hard and push herself to the max to accomplish her goals. My best wishes for her in the future, I'm sure she'll rise up to meet every challenge Life can put in front of her. (And she has great taste in handbags too!) :D

I have never seen this vintage coach sold by anyone else, although the leather and trim both look like high quality, can anyone help me identify its authenticity? Thank you very much in advance

Ask the seller to re-check the number. 4922 is not correct for that bag.

Also, ask if she has the shoulder strap.

It looks fine, although the removeable long shoulder strap seems to be missing. It's a Sonoma Satchel Natural Grain although it looks like the factory made a mistake when stamping the serial number - the style should be 4921 instead of the 4922 that they stamped. That could be one of the reasons the bag has the "FS" (final sale) stamp on the creed. I can't read the creed to see the year (you may want to ask for a better creed photo) but it's from the mid-1990s.

FYI, a Sonoma Satchel is currently listed on Chicago's Craigslist (with the long strap) for $50. Perhaps the seller will ship? He/she gave a phone number but no email addess. As usual, the craigslist pics are terrible quality:

Thank you for the detailed background information, very helpful!

It's funny that this item was mentioned because the seller is also selling what appears to be the same bag in white, also without the strap, and also looks like the serial number is 4922. It is hard to see the creed but a little better than the tan bag originally posted. Here is a link to that one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330604417306?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1431.l2649

Update: The high bidder on both of these items appears to be bidding on only items by this seller, 5 actually. I don't know enough about shilling to say that is what this is, so I wanted to point it out so the experts could investigate further.

Good catch re possible shill bidding. If you're interested in this seller's items, keep an eye on the bidding.

There's a possibility that it could be a legitimate buyer looking for a deal. She's bidding on the 99-cent Coach listings only. But it's odd that she's not bidding on any of the many other sellers' items with low starting prices.

Personally, I'd feel uncomfortable enough that I probably wouldn't bid but if the price stays reasonable and you really want the bag, you'd have to make that call yourself.
