So, I got my bag today. I will be honest and say from the picture the seller posted on eBay it was hard to read where the bag came from. The auction was down to the last minute so I didn't have time to ask the seller what it said.

When I opened the bag the creed read: This is a Coach bag. It was handcrafted in Turkey of completely natural glove-tanned cowhide. The variations in the grain are characteristic of natural full-grain leather.
No L 62- 9790

This caught my attention because of the location and because I purchased an Ashley bag from the outlet not too long ago and the wording in that creed is completely different. I called the Coach customer service number and the lady assured me they do not make their products in Turkey.

Here are photos:

We've said this over and over again - NEVER believe what anyone at Coach tells you about authenticity. Almost without fail, every time anyone at ANY level, from store to Corporate, has been asked about something regarding an item's authenticity they've been 100 percent WRONG.

If you had just Searched this forum or the Answers To Authenticity Questions thread you would have found a valid answer without having to listen to some horse's patoot at Coach. No, AT THE PRESENT TIME Coach doesn't make bags in Turkey. But your bag was made in 1996 and in 1996 they DID make bags in Turkey and half a dozen other places. There's no way a recent bag from the outlet would have the same details as a bag made 15 years ago.

Before you do anything else, please do a little research.

Go to the Answers To Authenticity Questions thread and Search for the words "Coach made Turkey"

Go to the main Coach forum here, open the Search This Forum box and click the link that says "Show posts" and search for the same three words.

Then read the four Guides posted at Ebay By Salearea about Coach creeds, serial numbers, zippers, and where Coach was made. Save the links for reference.
http://search.reviews.ebay.com/members/salearea_W0QQcpnameZmembersQQprZsaleareaQQuqtZg

Once you've done this you'll already know more actual FACTS than 95 percent of Coach employees or 99.9 percent of online "Authenticity Guide" writers. And you'll know where to find FACTUAL answers the next time you have a question.

Really!!! Thank you so much for this information. I truly appreciate you. That's a sigh of relief. I did do a search on here about Turkey but the poster seemed to be getting mixed reviews in her thread.

The customer service lady was really short with me like I wasted my breath to ask her such question. So, thank you for giving me this wealth of knowledge. I am completely new to purchasing brand name purses (mostly because I'm tired of PVC purses only lasting a few months) and the forum. I knew I was taking a gamble purchasing off eBay and it has seemed to pay off. As for now, I think I'll just stick to going into the store if I want more purses. :D

repost please

Comments: The seller has 100% feedback, but I'm a little suspect because I thought the lining for the Ivory Flagship Flag was a mint green color or is that just the metallic bag? Anywho... Ladies, thank you so much in advance!

Comments:

I got this purse for my birthday, but I'm freaking out thinking my husband possibly spent money for a fake ]: I hope it's not true, the C's are what bother me the most, I've been told the C's are usually pretty forumlated with the facing / and back to back style. These are kind of all over? I'm really worried. Can anyone help?

I can't say for sure whether it's real or not, we've seen a lot of possible fakes in that style and those lopsided rivets would make me worry. But it sure isn't "in very good pre-owned condition". You've taken photos of the wear and damage so I don't have to list them but if it were me, I'd be telling the seller I wanted to return it since the wear and the missing rivet half at the base of one strap wasn't disclosed.

Did you get more photos before you bid? Any time you're bidding on a used bag, avoid sellers who don't show a full gallery of photos. The seller didn't even show a creed photo. There are and will be dozens more of this style available on Ebay. Take your time and wait for the right one, from a seller who's not afraid to show exactly what you're bidding on.

Maybe someone more familiar with that style can take a look.
Thank you so much. I don't plan on buying another one for a while and definitely not without more pictures. I have an authentic brown Duffle sac. The rivets on this black Duffle are backwards. The smooth side is supposed to be toward the zipper. I will contact seller. :smile1:

There are plenty of honest sellers on Ebay and lots of great values in pre-loved handbags. There's no need to worry about buying there as long as you stick to listings where the seller shows plenty of clear photos of the bag's important details including the creed stamp and serial number, and as long as you ask for authentication here before you bid or buy.

Really? The missing half rivet and off-center placement was bad enough, but that definitely screams "fake" and you're fully justified in asking for a refund.

Comments: I stalk the made in Italy bags on Ebay and this one just does injustice to the rest. I am 99.9% sure it is a fake (Look at the horrendous stitching!), but I have learned to always check here first.

All it took was one look at that phony Made in Italy patch in the Gallery photo - Report away!

(And after I saw the photos of the rest of the bag, I wished I'd stopped looking after seeing just the Gallery photo. That has to be one of the UGLIEST fakes we've seen this year.)
