Hi, All. My mom wants to get this Coach bag from a craigslist seller, but I'm nervous that it is not authentic. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Michelle

DemRam needs to look at that one. The leather has more texture than I've seen in really vintage Coaches. The stamp looks ok but I've never seen a really old version of this style before for comparison.

The only bag I have with the old stamped Coach "mark" is the Watermelon Tote, which I think is probably from the later 1970's.

My camera is not quite good enough to capture the details of the leather texture on my bag, but mine does have the identical texture as the bag in question. It is almost "pebbled" looking in appearance, but is very soft and squishy.

Please authenticate. TIA!

Comments: Here are some more items in their booth which look okay.

There's no way to authenticate with just one picture. And most of their listings use only the stock photo as the only picture in the listing.

For example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-16013...534?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4841829a4e

An ironic twist is that one listing uses a stolen picture taken from a seller who has a long reputation of using stolen pictures but in this case, it's his picture and it was stolen by asavings. :D

A seller with this much experience should know the importance of showing actual items. Personally, I would stay away from asavings.

It's fake.

According to the creed, it's style 2162, which is supposed to be a scarf print bag:

Edited to add: Seller jcaramellomom also has a listing for a fake Dooney. (There's another authentic Dooney listing.)

Thank you, BB!
