AUTHENTICATE This COACH

I have a purse that was thought to be a Counterfeit and I would like to post it here for a second opinion and get it authenticated.. thanks in advance.

It's fake.

Although the style number portion of the serial number is correct for the style of bag, the date code indicates that the bag would have been made in 1998. Coach didn't make signature bags until 2000.

Additionally, if you read the creed, it states that the bag is made of "completely natural glove tanned cowhide." This bag is NOT a leather bag.

THere are more problems with the uncentered and misaligned C pattern, and the improper lining color.

There is no question that the bag is fake.

Note that this is one of the reasons why we always say that there's no way to authenticate a bag based on a serial number or the style number portion of the creed. Sometimes fakes have valid numbers.

I agree completely with BeenBurned, that bag is fake. In addition to what she already mentioned, the "Coach Leatherware" patch on the side of the bag is really badly stamped and the stamping is way off-center, the plant code in the serial number doesn't match the plant location in the creed, and the leather at the bottom section of the clip is too far away from the bottom edge of the bag. The top edge of the bag should be folded over when the clip is fastened.

But the off-center C pattern alone on a standard Signature C bag would be enough of a red flag to prove the bag was counterfeit. A real one is below.

It's real Coach did a lot of styles like that 10 or 12 years ago.
