Item: Coach Laurel 4112 (USA, circa 1990?)
Seller: Garage sale $30

Comments: I had previously asked about a similar tan bag and was told by DemRam and Hyacinth that it was from the Soho Lightweights Collection. Please give an opinion about the authenticity of this green bag and I would appreciate any other information you may have (e.g., when were the Soho Lightweights available?) Thank you!

Item: Coach British Tan Passport Case
Seller: Goodwill $0.99
Dimensions (closed)" 8.5" tall by 6" wide

Comments: It is pretty stained but for 99 cents I couldn’t pass it up. Please give an opinion about authenticity. And I don’t imagine that there is much information available about such a generic item? Thanks!

Good morning. I'd appreciate your help in authenticating this bag.

Item Bonnie Cashin Convertible Shoulder/Wristlet NYC

Comment: I'm not so concerned if it's a Bonnie Cashin bag...just that it's an authentic Coach bag. I love the color, size and condition of the bag.

Thanks so much.

It may or may not be a Cashin design. The style has been around for a long time, but I don't think anyone is ABSOLUTELY positive it's her design

It is an authentic Basic Bag or Zippered Clutch, style number 9455. That one was probably made later 70's - mid 80's.

Now that I have looked at this more closely I've realized that it is an agenda cover, not a passport cover. I can see the wear marks from the spiral binding on the inside. That probably makes more sense as it was rather large for a passport cover, duh!

The Laurel Bag looks fine to me and in great good condition. Beautiful color! Wonder what they called that color?

I'm not sure when the Lightweight Collection was introduced, or which styles were in the first group. I do have the year 1987 with a ? after one particular style, though that proves nothing.

Hyacinth probably knows the answers to all these questions.

Thanks so much! It might be Forest Green?

It is in good condition but unfortunately it smells of cigarette smoke so I am going to have to try and eliminate the stink! They were asking $40, which is a fair price if it wasn't for the smell! So we agreed on $30.

Here's the tan one on ebay that you posted in the ID thread recently. A beautiful bag but too expensive for my tastes!

The Lightweight line apparently started some time in 1987. I've included one of their pages from the 1987 Holiday book that give some details about the line. The line name was changed to Soho some time in early to mid-1993.

The Laurel Bag was made in 1991 and 1992 and the color name was probably Ivy.

Most of the Lightweights and Sohos from the 1980s and 1990s had four-number style numbers beginning with the numbers 40** or 41**, but NOT all styles starting with 4 belong to one of those lines.

Comments: Person is selling several Coach bags that is wife is ready to clear out of the closet apparently. He clearly shows pics of the tags. He has had 1 negative feedback left over 12 year history. He is listing it with matching wallet and clutch. I checked on Ebay under 10124 Coach and it pulled up several reversable totes, and there are some with the exact same inside tag.

Please let me know if it is real. Thank you.

That style of both purse and wallet were often faked and sometimes very accurately. The ones in your photos seem to be genuine though.

Are there any other pockets in the briefcase besides the one the creed is stamped on?
There are no other pockets, there is a divider.

Read the answers to authenticity questions section of this forum and the Salearea ebay guides. You can learn to at least spot the correct format for the serial/style numbers. Your bag doesn't have the right number of digits. Read the creeds carefully. Fake ones often have misspellings or run-on words or won't match the bag, such as calling the bag a "beanbag" or saying the bag was constructed of cowhide when it is a fabric purse. On this bag you bought, the word "reflect" looks to me like it says "befkect" and the word "our" looks like "cur". Always be suspicious of bags that have those metal hangtags. They aren't always fake, but a lot of fakes have them. Coach sometimes embosses the name Coach on the hardware, but the counterfeiters really love to do this, so when you see it on every piece of hardware, it doesn't mean it is fake, but is a warning sign that it could be.
Thank you all for your help! Im very thankful to have learned so much about coach bags, I am so happy I found this forum!! :tpfrox:

Thanks again!!

this is in kinda bad shape but i want to carry it but i never knew if it was authentic or not...thinking as a bum around town summer bag...

Hello! Could someone please authenticate this mess of a bag? I am playing with the idea of bringing it back from the undead.

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=221066715184&globalID=EBAY-US
The measurements are 10 1/2 x 11 x 4

Thanks

The bag appears to be an authentic Stewardess. I wouldn't purchase it without asking "katev" or one of rehab girls.

You can dye the bag to cover pen marks, (I don't think you can remove pen marks) but I'm not sure what you do if the leather piping is messed up.
