Item: Mahagony Patricia’s Legacy 9951, Dominican Republic, 1999
Seller: Savers $4.50 after discount
Dimensions: 8” tall, 10.5” wide, 4” deep

Comments: I have wanted to find a Patricia’s Legacy bag for quite some time. One time I bought a fake one (at a higher!) but happily I was able to exchange it. This one has a few condition issues and will need a trip to the cobbler to repair the stitching on the piping, but the price was so cheap I just had to buy it! Please give an opinion on authenticity, thanks so much!
Hi, I also have a bag with some tearin the leather. Could you let me know how you repair yours? Thanks!

Will do, it looks to me like the stitching on the piping came lose and back of the flap has separated from the body of the bag. I am hoping that the cobbler will be able to sew it back up.

This is a Coach Hampton Demi with Tan Leather #7785

Can someone authenticate this bag for me. I had someone tell me that it is not real but it sure looks and feels real to me. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Ohhh... somehow I didn't take a pix of the Coach leatherwear tag on the side of the bag. If needed I can add it...

Thanks so much!

It's a fairly accurate fake.

They got a few parts almost right but among other mistakes, the creed patch has an invalid serial number and year code. Did you buy it recently, and can you still get your money back?

Seller: Savers $6 after discount

Comments: I am still trying to get the cigarette smell out of another blue Willis that was more expensive, but it was so cheap I couldn't resist! Please give an opinion on authenticity, thanks in advance!

It looks ok.

What a bummer....actually we got it as part of another deal and I was considering selling it. Well, can't do THAT now can I? Looks like I got a real nice pencil bag for next year. Also looks like I owe my wife yet another quarter. ....on the bright side, who ever made this fake at least used quality leather and put it together well so it probably will survive a year or so with the brutal way I utilize pencil bags!!!

Thanks so much for your help, I greatly appreciate it.

...BTW... is there some kind of handbook that tells a person what to look for when buying COACH bags. I have bought over a hundred bags for my wife....mostly from the store now because we are concerned about fakes (like the one in this post apparently), especially now that I have worked my way up to the python shoulder bags and other mid-level high dollar bags. I obviously know that COACH doesn't put one out because that would give the counterfitters a blue print....but someone, somewhere by now HAS to put out a cheatsheet with common characteristics, a primer on how to read the CREED codes, etc. That would make things so much easier...and restore some of the fun to buying bags again.

Is it possible to get photos of one end of the strap, upper & lower sides, showing all 4 buckle holes? Also one of the bottom on the outside, and one with the strap unbuckled showing the inside and outside of the riveted area where the buckle is attached to the bag? And are the grommets around the strap holes brass-colored or is the metal kind of a silver or gray color?

No need to do it tonight, I need to get some sleep! :graucho:

Thanks!
Okay--sorry for the delay. I screwed up my photo program and had to figure out how to fix it before I could get this taken care of. The grommets are silver/gray, and the buckle is brass. The rivets are also brass.
Here are the other pics, and thank you for your help!

Most of the so-called Guides you find both at Ebay and on other places on the Net are pretty much useless, especially if they claim to show you how to tell if a bag is real. There's no such shortcut - ANYTHING a legitimate name-brand manufacturer can make, a counterfeiter can copy, sometimes very accurately. The only thing that works is to have an expert authenticate the Coach item (even including things like keychains, which are highly faked) before you buy.

Any time any "authenticity guide" claims something like having zippers stamped YKK proves a Coach is real, ignore that and any other information in that guide. If it were that easy to add something that "proves" a Coach is genuine, the crooks would have figured it out long ago. Most fakes also have zippers stamped YKK.

There's a very good series of Guides that help buyers spot some obvious signs of fakes though, although as you figured out they don't tell all the ways we spot them or the counterfeiters would have a field day. They're published at Ebay's Guides section by Trusted Seller "Salearea" and are (cough) very well-researched if I do say so myself. You can find all six here:
http://search.reviews.ebay.com/members/salearea_W0QQcpnameZmembersQQprZsaleareaQQuqtZg

Some of us have also collected some of the most commonly used fake serial numbers, and you'll find them both here at the Answers To Authenticity Questions thread - they take up three posts, 549,550 and 551 so be sure to read or Bookmark all three:

There's an authorized copy of it by another poster at Ebay's Guides pages, same basic information, by Ebayer "daria48":
http://reviews.ebay.com/FAKE-SERIAL-NUMBERS-AND-COUNTERFEIT-COACH-BAGS_W0QQugidZ10000000002744619

Hope those help. If there are any Coach bags, wallets, or keychains you're not sure of, just post photos here - front, back and at least one side showing the strap attachment and buckle hardware, and especialy a clear readable Macro photo of the creed stamp or patch and the serial number from inside the bag. We just ask that yo not post photos of more than 6 items at once. Or you can set up a separate Photobucket album and post photos there, PB will handle larger photos that this forum's software permits.

Thanks.

Those gray grommets around the buckle holes are worrying me a lot. Some of the other details look either accurate or well-copied, but base metal grommets on a bag with brass hardware is often a red flag.

Unfortunately there just isn't enough evidence for me to say for sure either way. Without actually finding another #9966 Legacy Zip from that mysterious Y plant that could absolutely be proved genuine, we just have to call it "questionable". It may give you the same service and wear almost as well as a regular Coach, but it would be best to use it yourself rather than selling or donating it.

Please help me authenticate this for my mom who's looking to buy. Thank you!

Item: NWT Coach Signature Skinny Checkbook Wallet Peony Pink F46907 *Ship Fast*

Comments: My mom wants this wallet, I think it's a bit high priced (which I know won't be addressed here) but I want to make sure the wallet she gets is genuine.

Thank you for your help authenticating this!
