Comments: I would really hate to see someone spend $550.00 on a fake. Can you gals confirm that this is a fake? Thank you so very much.

Ugh! Yes, it's an awful fake. Report away!

OK, dumb question...Do people REALLY fake the tags (as in NWT), too?? This one has what looks like real Coach store tags on it....?

:D I have to agree. When I was stationed in Korea, it was VERY VERY typical to walk into a genuine leather dealer (and there were some VERY good ones) to buy a designer knock off. They were VERY VERY good - but the key to fake vs real? The seller asked you bluntly: "You want Coach stamp, Prada, or Dooney & Bourke stamp, please?" :graucho: Yeaaaahhh... The Korean vendors are excellent fake makers. I have a "Coach" briefcase to prove it. (Keeping, not selling!)

EXACTLY! And others who have visited Korea or been stationed there say there are hundreds of small shops that will make an exact copy of any bag you like with any details you specify, just like buying a custom-made suit in Hong Kong that's ready in 24 hours.

In fact, because Coach had failed to register its trademarks in Korea in the late 1980s to mid-90s, they wound up with at least 3 MAJOR and dozens if not hundreds of minor manufacturers "jumping" their trademark. Even a major handbag and leather company called WAKO blatently copied not only Coach's bag designs but even their creeds and sold bags with "Coach" creeds stamped inside. Coach actually had to take a number of manufacturers to court to protect their trademark and to stop the blatant counterfeiting, but it was just the tip of the iceberg. Here's just one record of "trademark-jumping":

Of course they do. They also fake care cards, boxes, tissue, stickers and almost any kind of card or paper that's found in a real Coach. There are even fake receipts for sale on the internet, which is one of the reasons why we don't recommend accepting a receipt as proof of authenticity.

ANYTHING A MAKER CAN MAKE, A FAKER CAN FAKE.

Once at a consignment shop, I saw a hideous fake coach bag with an authentic looking paper tag. I looked at it and saw that the tag was for a bag with a completely different style. Either someone attached a legitimate tag to a fake bag, or the tag was also counterfeit.

Hoping this ebay auction isn't a fake! Thinking of bidding. Any help appreciated :)

I believe that the bag looks okay but other opinions are welcome as there are some "good" fakes out there.
Thank you BB.

Ready to launch! Thank you again.
You're welcome x2! :smile1:

What I see looks fine. When you open the front flap is there a slip pocket and then the main zippered compartment? (I see the front flap in your last picture).

Everything else looks right for a "Patricia's Legacy" from 2001.

Thanks for your response, appreciate it very much. Yes there is a main zip closure, YKK zip with leather pull tab, the creed is on the zip wall pocket. I've never had a later model Patricia's Legacy, only vintage. What is making me question this bag is that the zipper teeth on the wall pocket are not metal. Also under the zip wall pocket there is 202-3 in gold stamped into the leather. It feels and looks like a Coach but that zipper was a surprise. I can't find any tutorials or photos of details in the newer classic bag changes.

Coach often uses plastic zippers on inside pockets - look at any of the bags in a Coach store or outlet. They prefer that the zipper color match the leather or fabric, and plastic zippers also help reduce the weight of the bag. There wouldn't be any point in using a metal zipper for an inside pocket. A plastic zipper should never be a reason to question authenticity.

Is there any way you can get a photo of that number stamped in gold?

I don't have a problem with the Nylon Zipper. I sold a Legacy Zip from 2001 or 2002 with that same type zipper and I've also had bags as old as 1995 with the nylon zipper.

I don't have any idea about the "202-3" stamped in gold.

Wait for other opinions.

Edited to add: Never mind, you already got another opinion.
