I'm new and am still learning. Is it common for the older bags to have such a crooked cert. stamp? I want to know what to look for in older bags to teel if they are authentic.
Thank you

There's still an excellent Guide to the Sonoma line at Ebay written by a former seller and Coach expert:

And the sloppy creeds on Sonomas are mentioned in another Guide to Coach's Italian-made bags:

There is just no way to generalize about all vintage and older Coach bags. The "creed patch" can have little quirks depending on the style, the year and the country and even the factory where the bags were made.

The Sonoma line is notorious for having VERY messy creeds. In fact, I've seen Sonoma's with even more messy creeds than the bag in question.

There are other signs to look for that prove that bag is authentic, because the counterfeiters always make mistakes on something, including the wording on the creed.

You may want to check out the links below. They have some great information about what to look for in authentic bags.

Item: Multi Pet Metal Keychain 92114

I have a friend that wants me to sell this keychain for them in my bonz booth. Normally I would with no problem but it is a highly faked keychain and I don't want to list it until I know for sure. She says that she purchased it years ago at a FPS store in NYC.
I have no idea how to tell if its real since every single picture I have seen, fake or real, all look the same to me. And since I haven't seen any photos that show the back of the charms, it isn't helping me lol TIA
If my pictures aren't clear enough, I am happy to take again.

This one is authentic.

You're correct in that it's a highly faked style and some of the fakes are pretty "good."

If you plan to list it, I'd suggest cropping the pictures closer so the accurate details are more visible.

The backs of your charms are what they're supposed to look like.

Thank you! What a relief because I didn't realize how faked these really are until I was researching for a photo and a ton came up in iOffer which I know is a site full of 99% fake items.

Without being too specific, the main problem areas of the fakes are the lozenges, the hydrant and the backs of the charms. (This statement refers to the fakes that are the correct colors.)

The same fobs in blue, pink, yellow, green or any other colors are always fake.

Hi there, I'm new to this forum and new to Coach purses. I've always wanted one and my dear hubby bought one from a friend whose wife was selling a few. She assured him it was real and it looks real to me, but from my lack of experience I really wouldn't have a clue. Here are a few pictures, my camera isn't the greatest my apologies if the flash was too bright. Thanks for your help!

We'[ve probably all gotten our experience a little differently. While I'd been a Coach buyer (stores only) for years, it wasn't until I started looking for Coaches on Ebay somewhere around 2005 that I realized how many fakes there were and started figuring out the differences, including keping records and photos of almost everything I found. The serial number seemed to have the most information and once I started figuring that out, the rest just followed. Being a "detail person" helps a lot.

Actual "study time" from that first fake "NT-4903" found on Ebay was maybe 6 years - guess it's kind of like studying for a Masters in Coach-ology. :D

It looks good.

This is the bag I asked about before that I won on ebay. I got it for $91 so I'm a bit suspicious. I received it today and took better (hopefully) pics.

Please let me know if you need more pics. Thanks!

Thanks for posting these guides, they are terrifically helpful!

I recently rehabbed a navy Tribecca convertible clutch. The bag was authenticated here on TPF and I have no doubt that it is genuine; but the hangtag is very suspect. The stamped coach lozenge is markedly crooked on both sides! I know that creeds are sometimes sloppy and tilted in older bags, and have seen seen a few hangtags that look a little weird, but this one is really off. I have wondered if it was a fake replacement hangtag; have you seen vintage coach bags with badly aligned markings on genuine hangtags?

Here is the link for the rehab pics, and below is a photo that shows the hangtag, but I didn't take closeups of the tag and I don't think that the picture looks as odd as it really is.
