Authentic "Small Drawstring Natural".

There were so many colors in that Sonoma line that it's hard to tell just by the picture what the color is. They had names like Buff, Sand, Camel, Wheat to name a few.

I had one in a similar color. I didn't know the color name and it was missing it's hangtag, so I decided it looked just fine with a brass hangtag.

I'm new and am still learning. Is it common for the older bags to have such a crooked cert. stamp? I want to know what to look for in older bags to teel if they are authentic.
Thank you

There is just no way to generalize about all vintage and older Coach bags. The "creed patch" can have little quirks depending on the style, the year and the country and even the factory where the bags were made.

The Sonoma line is notorious for having VERY messy creeds. In fact, I've seen Sonoma's with even more messy creeds than the bag in question.

There are other signs to look for that prove that bag is authentic, because the counterfeiters always make mistakes on something, including the wording on the creed.

You may want to check out the links below. They have some great information about what to look for in authentic bags.

That creed patch is really worrying me. It looks like there are some very subtle differences between this one and one from photos I saved of a bag that I'm sure was completely genuine from the same plant, month and year. I'll post a few clickable thumbnails below.

It's hard to compare because the colors of the patches are different, as are the angles of the lighting and apparently the texture of the leather patch. But aside from at least 2 stitching mistakes, the one with the light-colored leather seems as if the Coach logo in the creed is just a tiny bit smaller top to bottom, and there's a smaller space between "the finest" and a larger gap between "with genuine" in that one compared to the verified genuine one. It's possible that 2 different stamps were being used by the plant and there were tiny differences between the two. I remember the poster asked about the bag over at Ebay but right now I'm on a computer that doesn't have Ebay access so I'll have to check there later since I think there were more photos posted at Ebay's Purses board.

Another thing that's a bit worrying, the bag asked about here has 17 stitches along the top and bottom of the creed patch, the genuine one looks like it has 19. Maybe someone with better eyes than mine needs to count them again.

The rest of the bag seems to be ok though but I'm not a Carly expert.

I count 17 stitches on top and bottom...I had to use my mouse to help me keep track of where I was counting :roflmfao: Only figured that out after about oh 3 tries LOL

Do you know what this color was called? I have to call JAX to request a replacement hangtag and I would like to match the color if possible. It's so grimy I can’t tell if it is white or ivory or even a faded, pale yellow?! I may just have to ask for a gold metal tag.

I might regret buying a dirty, light-colored, pebbled, lined bag with significant ink marks, but it was only $10 bucks, so I figured “why not give it a try?” :graucho:

Stick with the gold hangtag, they'll never match the color of that old a bag especially since most Sonoma colors were exclusive to that line.

If it's a true off-white, it was called Parchment, Wheat was more of a camel shade, and Maize would be a pale yellow. That particular bag was made for Spring so there are a lot of neutral pastel colors. And the price in Spring 1996 was $208.
