Hi everyone! New here.. I was sent here to have someone try and help identify if this wallet is authentic or not.

Back story: I purchased a messenger bag from Goodwill. When I came home after searching through all the zippers and pockets, I found this wallet. I contacted Goodwill and they seemed to make no issue of it. Apparently things like this happen from time to time and they said to keep the contents.

To my surprise, it said Coach. I know nothing about labels (re: Goodwill kinda gal) but if it's worth something, my first inclination is to sell it and then pay it forward with the cash going back to Goodwill or some other place. So, here's where I need your opinion. Is this real?

Dimensions: 5" by 3"
Description: Pale pink tri-fold. A softer color pink (perhaps a cream color? Hard to tell in the lighting I'm in) leather band is in the center of the wallet and at the bottom of that is 'Coach' inside an oval'ish shaped outline (all of same color) and underneath that 'Leatherware' and underneath that 'Est. 1941'

Backside is a zipper with no identifiable markings. Opening the wallet all the way, the middle fold has 'Coach' again on the center bottom.

Sorry but it's fake.

Welcome to the Purse Forum!

It's authentic and it was made in New York City sometime in the late 1970's through the later 1980's. The Coach name for the bag is the "Saddle Pouch Standard".

There were 2 sizes of the Saddle Pouch (that I know of) - one is the Saddle Pouch Large (approximately 11 x 9 x 2) and the Saddle Pouch Standard (approximately 9 x 7 x 2).

Very nice vintage bag!

BB - how can you tell? Are there any identifying marks, or do you just "know?" (Trying to learn so I can distinguish on the go!)

^^ On your question about the pink wallet, the alignment of the c's for starters. There is a lot wrong with that wallet.
As pointed out by NSP, the alighment is off, the pattern isn't properly centered, the imprint (both inside and outside) font and pressure are wrong, placement of the imprint is wrong, the "leather" looks plastic-y, the ID pocket lining is wrong, etc.

Do you know what this color was called? I have to call JAX to request a replacement hangtag and I would like to match the color if possible. It's so grimy I can’t tell if it is white or ivory or even a faded, pale yellow?! I may just have to ask for a gold metal tag.

I might regret buying a dirty, light-colored, pebbled, lined bag with significant ink marks, but it was only $10 bucks, so I figured “why not give it a try?” :graucho:

Authentic "Small Drawstring Natural".

There were so many colors in that Sonoma line that it's hard to tell just by the picture what the color is. They had names like Buff, Sand, Camel, Wheat to name a few.

I had one in a similar color. I didn't know the color name and it was missing it's hangtag, so I decided it looked just fine with a brass hangtag.

Thanks so much! Any idea how much they sold for back in 1996?
