Item: Abby or Abbie Bag 1997
comments: Please authenticate. I found this cute little bag last week at Goodwill.Creed: L7C-9017 - there are two pictures of the creed at different angles. My camera couldn't get it all. Measurements approx: 6"H, 7"W, 1-2" depth.

From what I can see, it looks ok. "Abbie" is how Coach spells it, from 1997.

Comments: Please help authenticate and identify. I don't know what it is. It looks like a small city bag. Measurements: 6.25" - 6.5 " H, 9.5" W, 2" depth. Creed 0455 139 made in the United States.

If I'm seeing right, the front pocket under the flap is gusseted on top so it can expand to about an inch deep? And is there a slip pocket outside on the back?

If so, it's probably a Large Compartment Bag from the late 80s to early 1990s.

Hey Everyone,

I have three needing authentication. Two are ebay and one is a goodwill find.

Comments: Please help authenticate. Creed D4F-9085. It has the right measurements compared to the authentic one I own. The creed is fuzzy but it is a 1994 Duffle Sac. The zipper was gold toned once and are is now faded to nickel/silver color. Also the rivets that attach the buckles to the bag are nickel/silver color. I have had this problem with another bag in the past with another bag that couldn't be authenticated. TIA

I think this one may have the same problem.

The metal plating coming off is a big problem, but look at how the creed is stamped. It's much too deep for a mid-1990s creed, and looks a LOT like the early 2000s bags that were coming out of the then-new Chinese plants. Genuine Chinese bags had those same "puffy" creeds for the first half of the decade although they were stamped onto a separate patch, but this one looks like the makers were using the same kind of stamp but putting it right onto the leather. That puffiness is still seen on a few recent Chinese-made bags but is also seen on a LOT of fakes from the mid and late-2000s. Even after Coach changed the creed stamp to make it smoother, a lot of fakes makers kept right on using the puffy-looking creed stampings.

The depth and puffiness is a big red flag. More opinions are welcome though.

(ETA - is the zipper mechanism a silver color too? The color doesn't look like it matches the zipper teeth but maybe that's just a trick of the lighting.)

I was afraid of that. I will have my black Duffle Sac (at a bargain) eventually...but this one will be returned. As always, I appreciate your help!!

The zipper is faded to silver coloring as well. The pull is missing. I meant zipper slider is silver coloring.

Now that's unusual. It doesn't seem as if a quality-conscious zipper manufacturer would skimp on materials like that. It's interesting that what you can see of the strap buckles still look like brass even if they're covered with verdigris.

For instance, say you're looking for either a Willis 9927 or a Station Bag 5130 but you don't want a black one:

coach (willis,station,9927,5130) -black -blk

Advanced Search link, enter keywords (multiple requests in parentheses separated by commas - no spaces between), exclude words from search, In This Category -Clothing Shoes & Accessories, Search Including - Title and description, plus however else you want to narrow it down from the choices farther down the page

Once you figure it out, Searching for something specific gets a lot easier.

Wow! I didn't know all those comma/parentheses tricks to do multiple searches in one search!

Thank you Hyacinth!

Enjoy your "New Tricks", you Old Dog, you!

I looked to see if there was a manufacturer for the zipper slider. Not even a faked YKK on it. The other parts look like Brass especially all the verdigris on the bag.

Wow! This is going to save me a lot of time! I'm always checking Ebay for things - even to know what to price things (not Coach) that I might sell. This information is so helpful!
