Thank you Hyacinth for the information on the cost of a carrier in different years...
I did get the creed number in case it could help solve the discrepancy between the info I have and the info the seller gives me on what he paid.

seller says he paid 450 in 1990- which doesn't make sense.. another seller tells me the same.. I hate to say.. they are lying... so here is my last bit of info hoping to make more sense.

the Creed number: 633-2814.

thank you

The serial number could be from any time between the late 80s to about 1991. It's a straight all-number serial number and doesn't include any year or production codes. The Carrier seems to have been discontinued some time around 1993 and the last catalog I can find it in is Holiday 1992, at that time the catalog price was $360. That bag never listed for $450 unless it was in some currency other than US.

She screwed up and you shouldn't be out your initial shipping payment ($7.55 according to the listing) nor the return shipping! Arrrrgh! This makes me angry. Yes, bring it up.

If potatobug31 doesn't refund you IN FULL, she has rightfully earned a well-deserved neg. (But don't do it until you get the refund and don't threaten it in order to get your full refund.)

Here's the listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...%2FxZZwv%2B%2BO4mImp5o%3D&viewitem=#cvip_desc

I just wanted to follow up. The seller accepted the return and messaged me saying she received it. She had a few follow up messages over not being able to process the refund because there was a block, so I gave her almost a week (from the date the bag arrived) to sort it out. Then, I escalated the case and eBay refunded me. I did lose the $4.90 I had to pay to return the item, but I did receive the original price + original shipping. I'm not sure if eBay ever refunds return shipping in cases like this, but I may inquire about it.

Apologies for dragging all this information out so slowly.. I hate to think someone is lying.

I'm glad you got your full original money back. Sometimes if you make a big enough stink prior to returning it, ebay will send a prepaid return label. Whether they'll reimburse you after the fact, I don't know. You have nothing to lose by asking them, though.

Sellers lie all the time - and so do buyers.

Or the person may have bought it at an Outlet, and the outlet price tag was marked up showing a $450 original MSRP. Outlet price tags sometimes show ridiculously high MSRPs since the store can show a big discount from the supposed retail and the outlet buyer thinks they're getting a much better deal than they really are. That style was re-made for the outlet and it's possible that's what happened. Obviously the buyer didn't actually pay anything close to that.

If you find a buyer or seller seems to be lying, don't deal with them. Or if you already completed the deal, you could put something like "seller's posted retail price seems much too high" in your Feedback comments.

Yea people use vintage freely haha, but I do like it, and since I got burned before I wanted to double check. Thanks a lot for your help!

Even though there's no official definition of what constitutes "vintage" in handbags, sellers need to at least try to find an accepted definition if they're adding to their listings as if it makes a bag more valuable. Ebay's Shoes & Purses and CAB Boards and the experienced posters here at tPF pretty much feel that the word should only be used for bags 20-plus years old. We've seen bags less than 5 years old described that way, and I'm not referring to the ones made of what Coach describes and Vintage Leather either. It's almost as misleading and aggravating as the thousands of bags from the last 30 years that are described as "Bonnie Cashin" or Cashin-era.
