wow so the seller of the Apples key fob refunded my $$ instantly and said not to return it because she can't resell it anyway. She had bought the key chain on Ebay herself :( She was very apologetic. She said she sold 2 apple keyfobs so she will contact the other buyer also she said since she assumes both are fake since she got them from the same seller :(

Thanks for your help Bunny & BeenBurned!!

The bag is fine and the Cs don't always match on the bottom seams.

Note that this bag is a pouch and is rather small. Draw the dimensions on a piece of paper or make a template so you know whether it's large enough to meet your needs.

That's the only thing that scares me LOL. I hate looking at bags that aren't in stores anymore, because it's hard to figure out if the bag will hold all my junk or not.

I just drew the measurements out on paper, and it does look just a tad too small to hold all the things I usually carry. Darn!

I was under the impression that the C's would always line up or be very close to lining up. That was just something I found when I had googled something about how to tell a real Coach from a fake.

Thank you!

It's supposed to be a gift for my son's teacher! Dont want to look stupid giving a fake if it is!! it came with a 2 piece box

Thanks in advance!

Member id bellachique is another seller who wouldn't know an authentic keychain if it bit her.

Tell these sellers that you want full refunds (including shipping) and leave appropriate feedback. If the seller refuses, file SNAD.

Fake keychains are flooding ebay and ebay is doing little to stop it.

No doubt the seller gave a quick and easy refund because she's trying to avoid the negative feedback. As is often the case, sellers claim ignorance of the error.

This seller didn't just sell a single fake (or 2 fake apples) but sold other fakes too:

Be careful about trusting what you read in guides that permeate the internet. Much of it is incomplete, obsolete or just plan WRONG! Many of the guides are copied and pasted from other guides and are worthless.

As for the "lining up," you can see that the centering of the pattern is there. If they took the time to match the patterns too, there'd be a tremendous waste of fabric and the prices would have to skyrocket in order to pay for it.

And in fact, there are also certain patterns and styles of bags that even on the front and/or back seams, the patterns aren't matched.

For every Coach "rule," there are exceptions.

Eek; that makes it sooo difficult! Guess I can throw that "rule" out the window. It does make sense that there would be a lot of wasted fabric if they tried to always perfectly align everything though.

How can you tell when a keychain is fake? I also bought one for a gift for someone that I'm waiting for USPS to deliver. The one I received 2 years ago, and subsequently sold, ended up being fake, and I didn't even know it until coming here. Is there a guide or tutorial on keyfobs?

Oh YUCK!! Well I won't be one of those who helps her out and gives her good feedback for trying to rip me off! I'll tell you that if i had NOT read the keyfob thread w/Stephie13 I NEVER would have even questioned these keyfobs! They LOOK so REAL! I have a bunch I bought in the Coach store and these dont look too much different but NOW that I KNOW they are fake I can tell the difference in my authentic fobs. The fake ones say Coach way too much LOL I can see how they are able to scam people because with out this forum I NEVER would have thought they were fake :( There are probably SO many people who have been burned the same was :( and most of those fobs were NOT cheap!

None that are very helpful or very accurate or up-to-date. And just like purses, writing one that explains all the mistakes counterfeiters make would only help the fakers make more believable fakes. Sometimes comparing a suspected fake to a known genuine one is the only way to tell the difference.

The best thing is to buy from known and trusted sellers, and to NOT base a buying decision on which keychain has the "best" price. Buying on impulse or in the last few minutes of an auction can also lead to expensive mistakes. Take your time and ask here before buying. Or spend several years and several thousand dollars collecting photos, catalogs and genuine keychains.

There are no shortcuts or easy Rules to use.

What is the serial number on the leather bag? Does it begin with a T? If so, there's a problem. Please wait for other opinions on that one.

As for the other bag, it's authentic but not vintage. It was made in 2004.

I agree about the leather one, it's definitely fake.

Also, I bought a small leather cosmetics bag, Coach, a couple years ago. I have no links to it because I bought a couple years ago. It was used when I bought it. I'm just wondering what the correct procedure is to posting pics of it to see if it's authentic.

The name and address card is different than one in a walllet I have. Some of the text placement is different. The reverse side of that card isn't blank on my item. (Is that what your eyes aren't seeing, Hyacinth?)

For the cosmetic case, you can post the pictures here and we can look at them.

I haven't bought many wallets recently but the ID card itself is what's bothering me. The blank back is one problem, but the kind of wallet it was included with is another.

(This is a response to post 9312, sorry it took so long, the internet earlier today was a mess and I couldn't get either tPF or Ebay to load).

I can slide my nail under the carriage, but not under the part that says Coach. It came with a white canvas dust bag with red letters on it.

The cards are as follows:

My pictures aren't from a wallet with the HAC logo and I'm not sure whether those wallets have different cards, but I've done side by side comps of Stephie's pictures vs. mine.

Maybe someone else might know whether Coach uses both types of cards.

I'm no Coach expert but for what it's worth, 2 of my wallets have the same name and address card as Stephie's.

ETA: Both wallets were purchased by me directly from Coach.

The point is, why put an ID card in a wallet that doesn't even have an ID window?

The only recent wallet I have is a 43609 Turnlock Sig Slim Envelope, maybe MFF, and it only has the new HAC "Coach Signature Collection" card even though the wallet doesn't have the HAC plaque, just the old Sig fabric and a turnlock.

Don't know when Coach started using the new style but it was probably just within the last year. NO ID card since there's no ID window, and that's been the case with every wallet I've ever bought from the Factory or FP store.
